Position Overview:
The Supervisor, Systems Engineering and Requirements Management role is a line manager who leads a group of 10+ systems and requirement engineers for AP1000, AP300, eVinci, and legacy analog control and protection systems for nuclear power plants. Team members work cross functionally across the entire Global Instrumentation & Control(GIC) organization leading the Integrated Systems Engineering process. The systems engineering process includes configuration management, requirements management, verification and validation concepts across multiple sub-systems in a consistent manner, while coordinating and leading technical design creation and changes across multi-discipline groups. The requirements management team is responsible for managing the requirements development environment in IBM DOORS.
This Role will include the following responsibilities:
Managerial Responsibilities
Supervises multiple employees(10+), typically exempt-level employees. Maintains performance management responsibilities for employees under purview and directs hiring, firing and promotion decisions. Frequent inter-organizational and external contacts, including collaboration with product line management, sales and customers to successfully complete project scope. Routine and frequent communication with all levels of management. Develop and maintain both internal and external positive customer relationships by positively addressing customer concerns and issues. Ensure the performance of work activities in accordance with established Westinghouse procedures. Identifies resource needs and develops justification. Develops and manages department budgets and/or business plans for organization.
Product/Project Responsibilities
Responsible for overall success of projects including technical concepts and approval of all project outputs. Develops the definition of very complex projects, selecting sources and monitoring results. Identifies resource needs and develops justification. Ensure team provides cross functional technical support for other areas, product development, project implementation, marketing, and sales. Guides very complex projects and develops project organization, definition, planning, implementation and control. Develops and guides technical processes, to ensure standard methodologies for complex control design theory. Guides cross-functional initiatives to develop very complex specifications reflecting user requirements and business criteria. Continuously assesses work flows, jobs, and reporting relationships to improved team efficiency.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Engineering Qualified applicants will have 7+ years of professional experience in engineering/technology based industries. Minimum 5 years experience in an engineering design or development role. Minimum 2 years experience people management or project management experience with resource direction responsibilities. Demonstrates understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action. Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) analyses basis, summary of results, proposed solutions, and implementation instructions to customers and team members.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Advanced Degree preferred, Masters, PhD, or MBA. Knowledge/experience in Systems Engineering theory & methodologies Knowledge/experience using IBM DOORS for Requirements Traceability Matrices PMP Project Management Professional. Strong analytical/data analysis skills. Knowledge/experience in overall design and operation of Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) and systems. Experience with Safety critical systems.Why Westinghouse?
