Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Supervisor – Food & Nutrition.
In this role, the successful candidate Plans coordinates and monitors sanitation and safety functions within the department in an efficient and cost effective manner in accordance with The Joint Commission and all federal state and local regulations May assist in the management and execution of superior quality patient food and nutrition meal services Acts as ambassador for food and nutrition services to patients staff and the multidisciplinary team and performs service recoveries for satisfactory outcomes
Job Responsibilities:
Demonstrates knowledge of the organizations Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties nbsp; Plans coordinates implements and monitors sanitation activities to maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with The Joint Commission and all federal state and local regulations and the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point HACCP system inclusive of Management by Walking Around MBWA Is responsible for the strict adherence to monitoring protocols for refrigerator/freezer temperature controls manual ware washing dish machine operations and other various cleaning logs Is responsible for the strict adherence to all regulations regarding the use and storage of cleaning compounds material safety data sheets MSDS and staff training for the correct use of these compounds nbsp; Plans and executes training for new sanitation staff members as well as refresher courses for the entire staff for continuous development and competency assessment Prepares staff schedules daily work assignments and supervises employees in their respective work areas Ensures adequate sanitary standards are maintained in production tray assembly manual ware washing and dish room areas of the main kitchen catering kitchen and cafeteria Completes all required documentation Participates in cost control activities by seeking the most effective methods of delivering services and maintains an awareness of the cost impact on decisions and actions Assists in the staff selection process provides orientation and training evaluates subordinates performance and coaches/disciplines staff to build a competent team Orders cleaning compounds/materials/equipment as required nbsp; Works very closely with the equipment manager and reports any equipment concerns nbsp; Performs other related duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree in Food Service Management Hospitality Management Hotel / Restaurant Management or a related field A minimum of four 4 years of progressive operations experience in the food service industry at the managerial level in a high volume setting Additional management experience may be substituted for the degree on a year for year basis National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation for ServSafe Protection Certification required within 6 months of hire.
Required Licenses: ServSafe Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum: Associates Degree in a related field inclusive of training in hygiene or sanitation management At least 2 years of managerial experience in a comparable function Additional management experience may be substituted for the degree on a year for year basis Certified in ServSafe within 6 months of hire The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Qualifying Certificate in Food Protection successful completion within 6 months of hire In depth knowledge of all relevant health and hygiene regulations Good IT knowledge in MS Office or related software and conducting internet search Must be able to read write and speak English Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $62,400.00 – $70,553.60 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
