Supervisor- Biosafety & Biocontainment
Join our Team! We have an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor- Biosafety & Biocontainment to join our ARC team. The Supervisor- Biosafety & Biocontainment is responsible for the delegation of technical requests, receiving model species, participating in special projects, and implementing and utilizing standard operating procedures. We prefer the ideal candidate to have some experience in biocontainment, along with leadership skills, a keen attention to detail, and a genuine passion for St. Jude's mission. The St. Jude ARC team unit provides real-time technical advanced in vivo services to push research from concept to publication in record time by removing training and skill barriers for our researchers at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Job Responsibilities: Plan, coordinate, direct, and oversee daily operations of model species husbandry staff to meet department and customer requirements. Define and monitor operating plans for the area, including workflow, equipment, facilities, and personnel scheduling. Guide performance of husbandry operations (e.g., contingency planning for high-volume periods, periodic maintenance and decontamination, usage of suitable husbandry techniques). Drive timely submission of work orders and other relevant documentation to ensure timely availability of supplies, resources, and equipment. Track team compliance with required guidelines and address deviations. Track and report metrics to relevant leadership teams. Assist in planning and monitoring of overall team budgets. Train and mentor teams around model husbandry systems, techniques, and processes. Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Minimum Education and/or Training: High School Diploma/GED required. Minimum Experience: Minimum Requirement: 4+ years of technical experience in model husbandry (e.g. equipment operation and management, small model handling, sanitation, compliance with regulatory/policy requirements) required. Demonstrated success managing teams/ resources/ timelines preferred. Experience providing broader mentorship within and across teams is preferred. Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Plans workload for the team and gives clear instructions and expectations on delivery. Frequently reviews work, gives positive and constructive feedback, and completes evaluations. Always coaches and supports the development efforts of each team member. Demonstrates basic knowledge of vendor management processes and policies to engage with vendors for ongoing delivery. Compensation In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
