Supervisor Clinical RN ASC
Major Responsibilities: Oversees and directs the operations of assigned department(s) to ensure appropriate use of resources, efficiency of workforce, and overall maintenance of department(s). 1)Ensures delivery of comprehensive nursing care, collaborating with providers and other health care professionals in accordance with standards of nursing practice and established policy and procedures. This includes keeping current on department specific standards that may include attending cources, reviewing journals, and obtaining society membership or certification. 2)In conjunction with department manager, develops, implements, and updates policies and procedures related to department operations. 3)Stays conversant on and consistently upholds Clinic policies, Behaviors of Excellence guidelines, federal and state rules and regulations, as they apply. 4)Manages and audits daily operations for efficient work flow and encourages involvement of associates in process improvement and waste reduction initiatives. 5)Performs interviewing, hiring, corrective action and termination activities in partnership department manager and HR. 6)Ensures adequate staffing levels in all areas; utilizing cross training and cross staffing. Adjusts staff workloads accordingly. As necessary, provides direct patient care to meet the needs of the patient. Effectively runs the daily OR schedule and coordinates appropriate staff to assigned cases to promote efficient turn over time and surgeons workflow of cases. 7)Promotes and facilitates team resolution of problems and conflicts related to department operations, staffing, patient/customer service or associate relation issues utilizing service recovery standards, actions plans, or training, as warranted. 8)Adheres to safety practices to maintain a safe work environment and promote patient safety. • Reports safety issues through established channels and systems • Reviews and works to resolve safety concerns • Participates as requested in safety initiatives. 9)Oversees proper use and maintenance of department equipment and systems. 10)Consistently and effectively communicates clinic, site, and department information to direct reports as appropriate via regular staff meetings, huddles, or other standardized means. Participates in and encourages process improvement to positively impact Key Results Areas, as applicable. 1)Oversees and carries out standard work audits to ensure associate, Charge Nursse and provider compliance. 2)Oversees/carries out and maintains 6S audits. 3)Ensures visual management is maintained and shares with associates to support sustainment and accurate data collection (eg. Daily huddles and problem strips) 4)Continually evaluates metrics and department performance utilizing visual management.(eg. Scorecard, customer/associate statisfaction, process improvement) and use to impliment change. 5)Engages and encourages associates while executing process improvement initiatives within department(s). 6)Serves as a team leader on process improvement projects that directly impact the department 7)Utilize available process improvement tools to problem solve and develop project teams. Executes administrative accountabilities in support of manager and department. 1)Creates, evaluates and submits assigned department reports: (i.e. capital, personnel and operating budgets, department financial statements, general ledger, OT-FTE report, etc.) 2)Maintains organized department records and data. 3)Maintains complete and accurate associate files regarding certification/licensure, performance reviews, etc. to ensure compliance with Clinic, AAAHC and/or state and federal regulations. 4)Coordinates, facilitates, or assists with department(s) or other organizational meetings, as assigned. 5)Keeps open line of communication with the administrative director and department chair on key issues regarding department, associates and providers. 6)Serves as a member on the department's Medical Advisory Committee, and Quility Improvement Committee, other Dreyer/Advocate-wide committees as appropriate. 7)Performs additional assignments, as directed. Provides for associate and self training and development. 1)Creates an environment to promote ongoing learning. 2)Coordinates and/or provides department orientation, training and coaching for direct reports according to identified needs and standards of care 3)Assesses orientation, training process, peer mentoring and/or tools, adjusts accordingly to support and enhance associates’ on boarding process, performance, knowledge, and skills. 4)Monitors competency of direct reports’ knowledge and usage of clinic systems/programs and identifies areas for additional training and learning opportunities. 5)Performs regular and timely Performance Reviews; including one-on-one conference to clarify results, encourage development and/or explain performance plans and compensation. 6)Oversees completion of all development goals, department in-services and competencies within allotted time frame. 7)Demonstrates self direction by identifying learning needs, institutes self-development activities/goals and works to improve identified performance areas. 8)Acts as a resource to direct reports regarding work or clinic related issues. 9)Performs duties in a manner that reflects and is a role model for Behaviors of Excellence and clinic policies. Licensure: Nurse, Registered (RN) Education/Experience Required: • Graduate of an accredited nursing program. • 2 years clinical experience. • 2 years lead or supervisory experience in clinical setting or demonstrated leadership skills. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: • Professional communication and well developed interpersonal skills. • Ability to work effectively with all levels of clinic staff and management. • Functional PC skills and working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. • Knowledgeable of required EMR and PC software to perform tasks. • Evidence of management skills: Good judgment, organizational skills and ability to prioritize work. • Strong clinical knowledge essential to discipline. • Previous experience in mentoring/training associates. • Ability to understand financial statements, budget planning, project planning concepts. • Proven ability to prioritize tasks. • Current nursing license from the State of Illinois • CPR and ACLS • PALS required for Pre/Post department Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: • Ability to pass pre-employment physical (and physical lift test, if required by department policy.) • Must be able to travel to various Dreyer locations. • Must be flexible to meets accountabilities of workforce coverage. • Proven ability to work under time pressures and meet deadlines.
