Supervisor-Computer Center (2nd Shift) Job Locations US-OH-CINCINNATI ID 2025-22632 Category Information Technology Type Full Time Subsidiary Western & Southern Financial Group Overview Plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates the work of the shift operations staff on both mainframe and open systems platforms to meet schedules on Western & Southern Financial Group's (W&SFG) production systems. Coordinates and directs troubleshooting efforts, ensuring documented incident and escalation processes are followed during problem situations to meet established service level agreements with clients. This position is responsible for ensuring Computer Center Service Level Agreements (SLA) are consistently met. Responsible for the evaluation and development of staff. Works with minimal supervision and is responsible for making an established range of decisions, escalating to manager when necessary and updating manager on a regular basis. Responsibilities What you will do:
Ensures on-time completion of mainframe batch and open system processes through close supervision and adherence to incident and escalation problem-solving processes.Plans the daily workflow by considering schedules and priorities in order to meet production and test work deadlines.Ensures all printers are optimally utilized by close supervision to meet production schedules. Ensures the I/O print area efficiently balances the printer workloads.Supervises the on-time completion of printed output and its delivery to the proper locations.Fills in on operational tasks during the shift in the event staffing or workload circumstances warrant this.Reviews job operating techniques and procedures. Studies and recommends changes, and provides associated documentation to prevent errors and improve efficiency.Administers personnel functions by applying Company rules and procedures.Communicates upcoming projects, problems or concerns to associates and management.Recruits, hires, trains and develops staff. Provides direction to and development of associates through daily coaching, the administration of the Performance Management Program, and the creation and implementation of development plans.Performs other duties as assigned.Complies with all policies and standards. Qualifications High School Diploma Or GED (Required) College work (Preferred) Demonstrated successful experience working in a large-scale Mainframe and/or Open Systems environment. Demonstrated experience with meeting operational deadlines and schedules. (Required) and Demonstrated experience working effectively within a team. Provide examples of motivating co-workers in difficult situations. (Required) and Demonstrated experience maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when handling demanding situations. (Required) and Proven work experience directing others to initiate a recommended course of action to solve a problem or increase efficiency. (Required) and Proven experience adapting and demonstrating flexibility associated with changes to policies/procedures. (Required) Proven strong analytical skills, including demonstrated experience defining problems, collecting or interpreting data, establishing facts, identifying and providing effective resolutions. Cites examples of good decision-making skills when dealing with multiple alternatives. Provides examples of working under multiple deadlines with minimal supervision. Cites examples of successfully organizing and effectively completing assignments where given little or no direction. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned. Ability to continually make repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Demonstrated knowledge of large scale mainframe and/or open systems processing environments. Must have working knowledge of operating systems, hardware devices, utility programs and scheduling software. Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Work Setting/Position Demands:
Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings. Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis. Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned. Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis. Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
