Job SummarySupervises, schedules, coaches and inspects Construction Contractor Crews performing outside plant and internal installations of infrastructure and facilities to provide telephony and cable television service to Network Management/BTS commercial customers. Manage customer expectations/concerns during construction portion of the project and liaison with customer for the Installation and Fiber Splicing departments. Budget: Supervisor is responsible for reviewing the survey budget approved for each new build. Each supervisor is responsible for keeping costs at or below the approved budgetary number associated to each project. Supervisor is responsible to proof all invoicing for accuracy and necessit. Supervisor is expected to use his/her experience to possibly reduce costs during construction process. As necessary, the construction supervisor will attend meetings with potential customers to review construction procedures/practices and construction schedules in an effort to secure the sale. Supervisor is typically responsible for supervision of $1,000,000.00 in capital expenditures annually.
Responsibilities Supervises the technicians. Responsible for the supervision of immediate restoration of the entire fiber plant for services. On-site lead in the coordination of all restoration activity for all groups. Ensures that any fiber outage is contained to the shortest time duration possible by implementing proper analytical skills, and technical skill sets of the staff are utilized to their maximum potential. Schedules the fiber staff, including the supervisor, to ensure proper round-the-clock standby coverage. Plans and oversees all projects including overseeing contractor activity. Plans and oversees all node segmentation and node splits for performance improvement and the reduction in homes passed per node to minimize failure size. Completes all planned system maintenance related to fiber in a timely manner within the approved overnight maintenance windows. Supervises overnight staff to ensure timely completion. Ensures capital projects are completed in a timely manner within budget. Responsible for ensuring the plant meets the specifications of the Blue Book construction manual, NESC, NEC, SCTE Construction and Fiber manuals, BOCA and local utility practices and other applicable regulations. Prepares necessary reports. Monitor reports for control of activities, schedules and costs. Collect, analyze and summarize information and trends. Ensure compliance with company Service Level Agreements (SLA) in an effort to achieve company performance objectives. Supervise Contractor labor to company SLA and ensure customer satisfaction goals are met. Ensures that contract labor & other monthly budgetary expectations are met. Manage, review and coordinate ACP process for all service affecting activity. Has advanced knowledge of all safety practices and procedures and ensures they are followed. Assist in development and deployment of technology advances. Responsible for the deployment, implementation, and maintenance of fiber related monitoring systems such as the Quest Fiber Monitoring and Phoenix Chassis Monitoring. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned. Supervises the day-to-day operations of the department Qualifications Must be a High School Graduate, preferably with some college background. Minimum of 5 to 10 years experience in the outside and inside plant construction with one year of supervisory experience. Must be fully proficient with PC's and associated software. The individual must have good interpersonal skills and prior experience in project management. He/she must have thorough knowledge of construction practices and procedures as well as knowledge of fiber optic materials and practices. The supervisor must be able to read and understand maps, building prints, architectural drawings, system prints, and engineering work orders. Must have a valid driver's license in the state of their residence. The supervisor must have a thorough knowledge of fiber and network design and be capable of making field modifications to engineering work orders as required to meet changing customer requests. Appropriate valid driver’s license and driving record within Company standards. This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $77,112.00 - $126,684.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
