Here’s What You’ll Do

Assists the Leadership by supervising and coordinating Customer Service Specimen Processing functions of the Lab. Effectively leads and develops a team of employees to include the full employee life cycle. Ensures Lab staff are current in competencies, assessments, licensure, certifications and other annual training. Monitors staff's time and attendance consistent with THR policies. Coordinates scheduling of operations.

Holds frequent informal huddles to provide staff feedback/focus for the daily work and address any deviations in policy to ensure accurate patient care. Ensures work environment complies with regulatory, licensure, compliance and accreditation requirements by monitoring the work setting on an ongoing basis to identify deficiencies , risk and opportunities for improvement.

Oversees proper documentation for both shared drive and problem bin samples/issues and provides feedback to staff on how to handles these scenarios. Conducts monthly staff meetings to convey information that is relevant to THR initiatives, or Lab leadership directives/goals. meetings and QA meetings for follow up. 20%

Shift Specific duties:  NIGHT SHIFT

Manage and monitor specimen workflow during accessioning. Identify clinic errors for sample submission and take appropriate corrective action. Use coordinated judgment with supervisors to resolve sample issues on Friday to avoid time related sample rejection due to short sample stability. Troubleshoot PSC stamps for specimen reconciliation when discrepancies occur. Consult Quest website for alternate test codes for troubleshooting problem orders. Oversee end of the night reconciliation of duties for tissue, micro, PAP

Here’s What You’ll Need

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required. One (1) year of customer service experience is required. At least six (6) months of experience in a high volume testing lab is preferred. At least six (6) months of Supervisory experience is preferred. Knowledge of appropriate lab and regulatory guidelines including, but not limited to: CLIA, CAP, CLSI (NCCLS), Texas Department of Health, EPA regulations regarding regulated waste disposal. Familiar with basic medical and laboratory terminology. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of spreadsheet software such as but not limited to: Excel. Knowledge of lean principles such as but not limited to Six Sigma.
