Overview Rhode Island Energy is looking for a Supervisor to lead their Electric Technical Training Instructor team. This position has three primary responsibilities: 1) Provide leadership, direction, and feedback to a team of instructors (each with a specific discipline) to deliver training to high-impact job classifications (for example: Linemen, Electricians, Mechanics, Technicians, Operators, Gas Technicians, Meter Techs, etc.) 2) Lead Technical Training Specialist and Subject Matter Experts through the process of developing training curriculum and courses 3) Provide leadership guidance (feedback, coordination with Field Supervisors and Managers) to those participating in our apprenticeship schools (e.g., Line/Substation Electrician School, Gas School, Generation School, etc.) Responsibilities Essential Functions Supervise Technical Training and Work Procedures Specialists, Bargaining Unit instructors, and contractors in the development and delivery of training to support technical curriculums. Manage the accuracy and quality of recordkeeping and the learning itself. Provide fair leadership and guidance whether employees are remote or on-site, assuring on-site presence is adequately covered. Perform yearly evaluation and contribute to yearly calibration activities Provide leadership to the trainees of various schools. Assure behavioral and skill evaluations are fair and well documented, shared with employees in timely manner, and communicated to Field Managers and Field Supervisors. Electrical Supervisor: including Line progression school, Substation/Network Electrician progression School, other electrical progressions, Continuing Ed programs, etc. Gas supervisor: including all gas progression schools, Continuing Ed/Annual Expert Training, Operator Qualification education, etc. Generation Supervisor: Including Mechanical/Instrumentation progression, Electrical progression, Continuing ed programs Assure instructional materials are developed, kept up to date, and coordinated with those who manage the storage of the content. Manage large-scale development projects including materials, activities, simulations, evaluations, and communications to support training assignments. Set priorities and juggle resources to assure we can meet customer needs with instructor and student training schedules. Work with peers in other Operating Companies to collaborate. May require travel to do so. Supervise the building of simulations, acquiring resources, and securing the vehicles and equipment to conduct training. Maintain the ability to deliver technical training, as required, to meet the demands of peak work load periods or when a substitute is needed for the lead instructor. Contribute to budget control through the effective and efficient use of personnel, materials, tools, and equipment. Responsible for enforcing the standards of integrity, AA/EEO policies, safety rules and procedures applicable to the training process. In-person supervision of employees to ensure compliance with FLSA wage and hour issues as well as to monitor compliance with safety rules. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers. Qualifications Required Education & Experience High school diploma or GED Five or more years of experience - A subject matter expert, with Journeyman or fully qualified level knowledge and experience, in one or more of the job classifications he/she is responsible for, and capable of substituting for the lead instructor as required (example, Journeyman Lineman, Journeyman Electrician, Gas Journeymen with Operator Qualifications, Qualified Journeyman Mechanic, Instrumentation Tech, Distribution Technician, System Operator, etc.) Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to brief, communicate to, and collaborate with various levels of PPL EU leadership. Familiarization with Instructional Systems Design (ISD) processes or willingness to learn the processes within the first year. Preferred Qualifications 2-years of Leadership experience Proficient in Microsoft Office tools used to develop instruction (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, navigating SharePoint sites) A willingness to learn and obtain qualifications for instruction and instructional design A willingness to learn and obtain qualifications for instruction and instructional design #INDRIE #RIE
