Summary:
Responsible for directing and instructing the Plant Operations staff to ensure the proper operation of the facility, equipment and systems in a cost effective manner.
Oversees the daily operations of the department to support Virtua’s overall mission.
Monitors the work of outside contractors and vendors to ensure the needs of the customers, compliance of all regulatory codes and STAR standards.
Position Responsibilities:
• Assists Plant Operations Director with training and motivating the workforce of technical and qualified personnel.
• Reviews and coordinates work requests to ensure timely completion and adherence to regulatory codes and ordinances. Delegates tasks as appropriate based upon need and staff qualifications.
• Maintains day to day operations. Works side-by-side with plant maintenance mechanics in performing tasks.
• Assists Plant Operations Director with assuring that buildings are maintained in a safe and operationally effective condition.
• Responsible for purchasing department supplies and inventory management.
• Provides leadership to others in emergency situations and acts accordingly. Models appropriate behaviors to support customer satisfaction.
• Assists Plant Operations Director with managing operational initiatives and programs as assigned. i.e., patient satisfaction, safety, security, biomedical engineering, and related outside services contracts. Demonstrates and promotes fiscal responsibility.
• Assists with coordinating inventory consignment and purchasing contracts, billing process/issues and report generating when appropriate.
• Schedules, assigns and assist mechanics with specific tasks on a day to day basis. Utilizing Resource Stewardship by operating the department within budgetary guidelines to include appropriate staffing levels.
• Inspects work completed by staff and contractors to ensure quality completion.
• Ensures department and contractors are compliant with Virtua, Federal, State, Joint Commission and all other documentation as required.
Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:
A minimum of 5 years experience in maintenance.
A minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in utility needs, installation of maintenance of equipment, building and grounds preferred.
Experience in planning, organizing and purchasing.
Knowledge of applicable regulatory codes and requirements.
Must have effective communication skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, as well as facilitate the plant operations department functions.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
Training/Certifications/Licensure:
CHFM within 2 years of hire.
