EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.Veterinary diagnostic laboratory experience is preferredWhile lab experience is preferred, it is not required. However, previous supervisory and leadership experience is required.

Supervisory skills and ability.Ability to organize, prioritize and direct work activities.Experience with the operations, products and services in the area supervised.Customer service skills, with experience working with customers (internal and/or external) and maintaining good customer relationships.Reasoning and analytical skills to resolve issues.Project management skills and abilities.Communication skills, both verbal and written.Personal computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Extensive sitting, standing and computer use.Extend and reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers.Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch.May be required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds.Fluency in the English languageSome travel required.Some positions may work with exposed moving electro-mechanical parts and may require proper protective equipment.
 

LEVELING GUIDE:

Typically supervises larger or more complex areas.In some instances, is responsible for function/program only without subordinate Supervisors/Staff.Provides input on resource planning and policy development.Work primarily focused on coordinating day-to-day activities of area supervised; may have subordinate Supervisors; coordinates work activities with other Supervisors.Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from the Manager.Applies acquired expertise to analyze and solve problems without clear precedent.Typically, 2-3+ years' Supervisory experience, with in-depth experience in the areas supervised.As a night-shift Laboratory Supervisor at IDEXX, you will be a people leader at one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. You will supervise a team of Medical Laboratory Technicians, who are helping to analyze samples that help veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. What You Will Need to Succeed: 

You’ve directly supervised 10+ employees in a fast-paced and/or high-volume work environment You love a fast-paced, high-volume, innovative work environment You are passionate about people leadership  You are excited about the opportunity to use your skills and abilities in promoting the health and well-being of animals. Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab – standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability – close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals. 

Schedule: 

This is a full time, 3rd shift positionThe shifts can be slightly flexible as there may be morning meetings.There could be weekend shift rotationsThe shifts and hours may vary depending on staff meetings and business needs.  ​
