Supervisor Industrial Maintenance

Job Description SummarySupervises and/or assist with urgent and routine repairs and maintenance of plumbing, medical gas, medical vacuum, fire water, sewer lines, water lines, surgical, dietary, and laundry equipment for the facility and outlying clinics owned and/or operated by Southeast Health, to insure that our patients receive quality and safe care by following policy and procedure of the Plant Operations Department, Southeast Health, state and local codes. Evaluate annually, Industrial Maintenance technician under direct supervision. Perform on-call task when assigned. Prepare and schedule monthly work schedule. Supervises and/or assist with preventative maintenance (PM) that is required for patient care areas and equipment assigned to the Industrial Maintenance Shop. Complete or assign work requestor orders generated by computer and/or manually to be completed in a timely manner to assure patient satisfaction.
Job DescriptionQUALIFICATIONS:

High School graduate or equivalent. At least three to five years’ experience preferred in electrical, plumbing, medical gases and construction and/or technical school in one of the maintenance fields. General computer and electricity knowledge. Knowledge of state and local building and safety codes. Ability to read and understand wiring and diagram blueprints. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Plumbing, pipe fitting and Medical gas certifications. Experience in soldering, brazing and/or welding with certification. Valid drivers’ license.    

LANGUAGE/ COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Ability to utilize the Internet, extranet and email. Ability to utilize radio and paging system. 

SKILLS:

Supervise and/or assist in the maintenance and repair Surgical, Laundry, and Dietary equipment following owner’s manual, state and local codes and policy and procedure of Southeast Health. Supervise and/or assist with repairs, adjustments and calibrations of plumbing and sewer lines in the facility and outlying clinics in a timely manner to insure minimal inconvenience to patient, visitors and hospital personnel. Supervise and/or assist with the installation of plumbing, sewer lines, medical gas, medical vacuum and steam lines routed and installed during renovation and/or in-house construction following the state and local codes.   Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records on each piece of equipment for which the General Maintenance Shop is responsible using an Equipment Management System (Work Order System) documenting the prompted information according to the policy and procedures of Southeast Health. Coordinate with Part and Supply Coordinator to assure that we keep an adequate inventory of parts for routine maintenance and emergency repairs of hospital equipment. Supervise and/or assist with the fabrication of parts for repair when parts cannot be procured locally, or are no longer made by the manufacturer, minimizing downtime of the equipment. Coordinate and supervise scheduled shut downs, outages and equipment malfunctions with Director of Plant Operations, Engineering and Department Head(s), following local, state and national safety codes and the facilities policy and procedures.      Rotate on-call with other supervisors in Plant Operations Department.
