We also recognize that each of us has a different way of thinking and perceiving our world and that these differences often lead to innovative solutions.Our dedication to diversity includes a unified workforce (through training and education, recruitment, retention, and development), commitment and accountability, communication, community partnerships, and supplier diversity.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:· Oversees daily operations and assignments of power plant work orders for both medical centers and applicable outlying Mercy One properties· Responsible for facilitating the ordering/repairing and maintenance of equipment· Assists Facilities Director in the development and monitoring of the operating and capital budgets· Assists the Facilities Director with the coding/processing of invoices and time cards· Assists Facilities Director with performance evaluations and all other personnel matters· Data entry included but not limited to the POM work order system, creating and maintaining regulatory documents for JCAHO, Fire Marshall and other regulatory bodies.· Maintains a clean and safe environment· Operates, adjusts, and regulates steam boilers, compressors, generators, and pumps, chillers, cooling towers, medical gas and any other equipment in the hospital.· Observes state and local regulations related to maintenance/repairs/inspection of all equipment.· Has responsibility for the functioning of the emergency generators and their periodic testing.· Provides Customer Loyalty development and coaches others in these skills.· Ability to run the department when the Facilities Director is out of the office.MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:· Performs basic mechanical functions on equipment as needed.· Covers routine maintenance calls in the hospital as needed· May be required to work at any Mercy facility· Knowledge of BAS (Building Automation Systems) at both facilities.MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:· High school diploma or general education degree (GED).· Five (5) years’ experience in a power plant setting; healthcare preferred· Licensed within the city of Des Moines as a First-Class Stationary Engineer preferred· Considerable knowledge of power plant equipment/processes/procedures.· Computer knowledge including but not limited to Outlook and internet skills· Valid Iowa Driver’s/Chauffeurs License required, with accident free driving record for last three years and at least 18 years of age.· Proof of current personal automobile insurance as required by Iowa law.
