Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose

The Supervisor of Noninvasive Cardiovascular Services is accountable for the daily leadership and operations of departmental personnel, inventory, productivity, quality, and stewardship.  The supervisor is also responsible for maintaining and promoting a positive and forward-thinking culture within the department.  Abides by all rules, regulations and values set forth by CMS, Joint Commission, and all applicable accrediting organizations

Provides daily leadership and direction for the noninvasive cardiovascular team while supporting and achieving the mission and values of the department, campus, and CHI Health Heart Institute

Leads the effective delivery of competent and efficient care by monitoring and evaluating patient care processes and outcomes to ensure compliance with clinical patient care standards. Plans for staffing needs on a long and short-term basis, adjusting based on workload and other staffing variables in order to maintain safe and efficient care.  Prepares staff schedules and evaluates staff timecards on a regular basis. Monitors fiscal budget to control operational expenditures while monitoring and adjusting staffing patterns to meet or exceed productivity targets.Coaches and promotes accountability to team members concerning their job performance and development.  When appropriate, completes team member corrective action and annual performance evaluations, providing feedback to team members on a routine basis.  Facilitates and ensures adequate orientation of personnel.  Maintains department compliance with annual education expectations.Leads and promotes performance improvement and safety activities within the Heart Institute and collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams within the organization.Performs scheduled and meaningful monthly team meetings.  Completes routine rounding with team members, providers, patients, and families to better understand opportunities within the Noninvasive Cardiovascular Department. Responds to team member, provider, and customer satisfaction needs.Communicates with the Director and Medical Director(s) on a regular basis as necessary.Interviews potential staff members and recommends hiring of applicants.When scheduled on-call, must be able to respond within 30 minutes of notification.May require light travel or floating to other CHI Health facilities and/or outreach sites as needed to provide staffing support.  This applies to all locations.When necessary, performs various diagnostic cardiology and/or peripheral vascular exams
Qualifications

Education

Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or equivalent clinical job training.

Licenses & Certifications

Minimum of two registries in Adult Cardiac Sonography (RDCS-AE) and Vascular Technology (RVT) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).Effective 01/01/2019, all current associates who hold a CCI or ARRT ultrasound registry prior to this date will not be required to obtain an ARDMS registry in their current modality. Any subsequent registries must be obtained through the ARDMS.Must possess a valid driver’s license.BLS from the American Heart Association required upon hire

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Must be familiar with standard cardiac and/or peripheral vascular ultrasound views, equipment, and controls.Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.Knowledge of basic maintenance and upkeep of equipment.Ability to effectively communicate with team members, physicians, patients, hospital staff, and departmental supervisor in a courteous and professional manner in both standard and difficult situations.Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and professional standardsAbility to develop management skills including leadership, communication, data processing, conflict resolution, fiscal responsibility, and decision makingThe ability to teach, insure and monitor staff understanding and performanceAbility to prioritize and organize workAbility to load ultrasound and other diagnostic gear and operate vehicles large enough to accommodate equipment
