Position Summary:
The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for promoting and maintaining quality patient care through effective management of the activities of the total Patient Care Services during their assigned shift. In the absence of the Administrator and/or designee, the Nursing Supervisor has the authority and responsibility for administrative decisions while utilizing knowledge of standards, policies and procedures outlined for the institution. The Nursing Supervisor is also responsible for facilitation of throughput; including placement of admissions and transfers.
Essential Responsibilities:
CMMC Supervisor Nurse (RN) will report to the Nurse Leader of Central Staffing, BH and RH Supervisor Nurse (RN) will report to the V.P. of Nursing.Facilitation of throughput by demonstrating effective communication, utilization of throughput resources, and strong clinical decision-making skills.Placement of all patient admissions and transfersUpdates and collaborates with the Administrator on-call and/or specific department leadershipAssigns and monitors staff on an ongoing basis to promote effective staff utilizationProvides clinical support to all patient care units as neededRepresents Hospital/Nursing Administration in their absenceLeads Incident Command in the absence of an Administrator and/or designeeEffective communicator with the ability to create strong relationships; serves as a role model through professional behavior and open, direct communicationResponds to change productively, promotes enthusiasm for changeLeads all bed huddles within scheduled shift, and participates in required leadership meetingsEducation and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holds current licensure in the state as a registered professional nurse.Current Licensure from the Maine State Board of Nursing.A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or must currently be enrolled in a Bachelor’s program Minimum of 2 years experience as a staff nurse.Preferred 5 years’ experience as a staff nurse.Clinical nursing supervisor experience with demonstrated leadership abilities.Possesses strong oral and written communication skills.Demonstrates interpersonal relationships in a manner that enhances communication, promotes conflict resolution and facilitates staff development.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
