Description:

Position Summary:      

Responsible for scheduling work, training staff, auditing quality of staff work and day to day operations of work unit.  Implements systems and processes within the department.  Facilitates team development among staff.  Recommends policy and procedure changes.  Ensures consistent and accurate application of policies and procedures.

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

Encourages employee participation in unit meetingsProvides both positive and constructive performance feedback on an ongoing basisProvides appropriate orientation/training for employeesEnsures competency of staff and addresses learning needsReviews and submits timecards to manager timely and maintains employee attendance recordHires, Fires, discipline, promote and demote staffCreates an environment where staff participate in making decisions that impact their workflow

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT

Allocates and delegates work effectively and sets priorities with realistically achievable goalsDevelops and maintains policies and procedures relevant to codingMotivates and empowers staff to achieve optimal resultsEnsures consistent and accurate application of policies and proceduresAssesses and monitors workflow to and from the coding team and any additional servicesMaintains productivity reports for employees and escalates to the manager any productivity related problemsStaffs work area with appropriately qualified employees, ensuring that an adequate number of staff are scheduled for each shiftOrients, trains and cross-trains staff to enhance flexibility within the workforce

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

Effectively assess and improves work unit’s performance via quality auditsBalances creativity and risk taking with practicality and accountability for achieving quality outcomesEnsures the timely and accurate collection of data relative to QI indicatorsRecommends priorities in multidisciplinary problem solvingDevelop action plans to achieve improvementMonitors trends in denials and coding reviews, and provides education to the coders

Pay Range:$21.97 - $41.55
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
