Supervisor of Computed Tomography (CT)- DH Location: Salisbury, MD Duration: Fulltime Description: The CT Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day -to-day operations of the CT department. The CT supervisor is responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe delivery of high-quality service to patients while also providing leadership and guidance to a team of CT technologists. Education Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology License and or Certification Must obtain a license from the Maryland Board of Physicians Quality Assurance to practice as a CT Technologist in the state of Maryland. Minimum 5 years as a CT technologist. Must be a registered CT technologist with the ARRT Preferred: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related field of study. Three years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience including one year of work-lead or supervisory experience. Supervises as well as performs all CT procedures to the highest quality. Provides input back to staff regarding individual image quality. Complies statistical and QA data as needed. Maintains exam protocols to assure exam quality with minimum exposure levels. Coordinates with personnel of other departments regarding patient and/or staff related problems. Makes recommendations concerning the purchase, maintenance and/or repair of equipment. Responsible for the orientation and training of staff. Interviews and recommends the hiring of new staff members. Performs annual performance evaluations of staff. Performs disciplinary action as outlined in the Client handbook. Senior Director of Medical Imaging Performs diagnostic and quality control of CT procedures Assures existence of proper physician order and reason for performing exam. Scans patients using approved department standards and protocols per procedure. Provides preliminary data and images to appropriate physician(s). Maintains records and completes necessary paperwork Utilizes EPIC and PACS programs on each examination performed as directed. If required, enters charges for accurate billing using appropriate ICO-10 codes. Responsible for the administration of contrast media. Ensures compliance with ALARA for the CT department Prepares correct contrast media for procedure (Oral and Intravenous) Reviews patient history to determine renal function risk or allergies Performs venipuncture, administers or assists with administration of contrast media as required consistent with applicable legal restriction Consults with the RSO and contracted physicists regarding reportable events and any radiation safety concerns. Ensures compliance with DEP State of Maryland, and JCAHO regulations. Demonstrates and practices strict adherence to radiation safety. Practices and follows recommendations and the national council on radiation protection and the code of Maryland regulation (ALARA) Questions and documents all female patients of child bearing age 12-50 if they are or could be pregnant prior to initiating any examination. Reviews protocols with radiologists and physicists and develops practices to limit radiation exposure in accordance with ALARA. Optimizes the imaging devices to ensure quality imaging. Monitors and supervises CT studies to ensure the highest quality of images and patient care. Communicates, troubleshoots problems with radiologists. Works collaboratively with vendors and the bio medical department to improve the quality of images and ensure the safe operation of equipment. Maintains a safe environment for testing, ensuring preventative maintenance checks are performed as required and promptly reporting equipment problems to Bio-Med. Assures efficient work flow within department. Organizes staff and work schedule each day by prioritizing studies. Communicates with nursing units and physician offices in appropriately placing add-or patients on the schedule. Properly prepares for each patient, e.g., appropriate paper work, previous study results. Assures efficient patient flow by communication with patient transporters and nursing staff. Is an active participant on the Stroke Committee and Door to Needle Committee. Demonstrates leadership skills. Supervises others in the provision of patient care. Participates in the training and orientation of new employees. Ensures and documents all technical staff have completed and demonstrated competencies to work with little to no supervision. Facilitates monthly meetings and effectively communicates any operational or clinical changes with staff. Performs rounding with the staff on a routine basis. Collaboratively works with the ED and inpatient floors to ensure timely care of patients and efficient TAT Is an active participant on the Stroke Committee and Door to Needle Committee. Works collaboratively with other leaders to engage staff and physicians to reach organizational goals.
