Supervisor of Education Specialists 10/25/24Full Time--Harlem #### Job ID: 007370 #### Description: Harlem Family Services Center (317 Lenox Ave) $72,000 - $78,000 **Position Summary:******The Supervisor of Education Specialists will supervise a group of Educational Specialists ensuring they are effectively trained in order to be able to effectively advocate for youth.**** ** ** **Essential Duties:**** ** * Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures. * Under the direction of the Director for Educational Achievement & Partnerships, supervise Education Specialists by providing support, one-on-one supervisory meetings, targeted training (as needed) and guidance in ensuring the that the Education Specialists have the tools and skills needed to effectively advocate for youth. * Carry a caseload of approximately 15 to 30 youth in foster care: Conduct school visits, schedule meetings with pertinent school personnel, dialogue with students and parents, and document as required to ensure that appropriate academic interventions, mandated special education supports (as applicable), social/emotional supports, and opportunities to participate in extracurricular programming are provided as mandated or needed. * Attend and conduct intra and inter-organizational conferences, and staff training included, but not limited to - CORE Training, Foster Parent Training, DOE Trainings on Youth in Care. * Monitor quality and frequency of Education Specialists documentation of notes in CNNX, e-files, Monthly Reports. * Update information in the Education Unit “Shared Drive” as needed and utilize the most current educational data to monitor, advocate and refer students for educational intervention and support services to meet the individual academic/social/emotional needs of students. * Advocate for educational stability as per ESSA by working collaboratively with case planning teams to makeBest Interest Determinations(BIDs). * Utilize the DOHMH/ACS Early Intervention Report to monitor the timely EI referrals by Education Specialists for families with children in the home who are 0 – 3 years of age. * Cultivate partnerships with other CBOs, schools, support agencies, and businesses to leverage resources in expanding opportunities for exposure and experiences that can positively impact achievement outcomes. * Perform other duties as assigned. **Minimum Qualifications:**** ** * Master’s Degree required plus experience in education advocacy. * Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. **Key Competencies:** * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Excellent organizational and management skills. * Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and to meet hard deadlines. * Proven ability to relate to birth parents, foster parents, children, and colleagues. * Previous work experience with foster youth. * Flexibility to travel.
