Supervisor of Mail Services and Logistics Technologies
Overview: The Supervisor of Mail Services and Logistics Technologies will manage and oversee the University's parcel and mail processing systems, ensuring efficient and accurate distribution to both on- and off-campus locations. This role is critical in maintaining smooth operations, implementing best practices, and optimizing processes for maximum efficiency. The Supervisor of Mail Services and Logistics Technologies will exercise independent judgment to coordinate all mail and parcel services, ensuring timely deliveries and adherence to University protocols. This position also involves continuous assessment and improvement of operational procedures to support the University's logistical needs. Responsibilities: + Responsible for operating and overseeing the operation of all equipment and computing devices associated with the processing of parcels and mail. + Responsible for evaluating and maintaining appropriate material inventory levels related to parcel and mail processing. + Administer package tracking and smart locker software as well as interface with vendor on support issues. + Direct the distribution of on- and off-campus mail as required and work with equipment vendors as necessary. + Act as a liaison between the University community and all major carriers. + Provide second-level escalation in parent and staff inquiries related to parcel or mail delivery. + Maintain project lists and related documentation necessary to ensure the proper functioning of mail services at the University. + Supervise, instruct, and delegate appropriate tasks to full-time staff and student workers. + Hire and schedule approximately 35 student workers per semester. + Manage PTO, absences, and electronic timesheets for union staff. + Coordinate vehicle documentation and maintenance for small fleet of golf carts and vans. + Other duties as assigned. Education Requirements: + Bachelor's degree required + Experience may substitute for some of the above education Qualifications: + 5-7 years of operation experience in a mail/parcel processing environment required, preferably in an increasingly supervisory role + Must have a valid Connecticut motor vehicle driver’s license + Must have an aptitude for mechanical ability, working knowledge of vehicles, able to lift 50 pounds, and able to stand for long periods + Strong understanding of parcel distribution strategies as they pertain to efficiency in a multi-campus environment + Strong diagnostic and assessment skills for resolving customer and staff issues, making corrective measures in appropriate computer systems + Must have the ability to exercise independent discretion to accomplish all duties required in the position + Demonstrate leadership ability with excellent interpersonal and communication skills + Excellent computer skills and other data manipulation resources. + Intermediate/advanced skills with Microsoft Excel + Online and office automation platforms i.e. staff time management and resource procurement + File preparation for populating mail sortation and package tracking systems + Prepare routine statistical analysis of mail and package workloads + Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion Special Instructions to Applicants: TO APPLY: Applications must be submitted electronically and include a resume, cover letter addressing how your experience supports the requirements of this position and Quinnipiac' commitment to diversity and inclusion, and contact information for three references on the application form.
