JOB SUMMARY
The Supervisor Patient Registration Defines, plans, supervises, coordinates and organizes operations of the Patient Registration Department and Switchboard by maintaining the departments in compliance with the philosophy, policies, procedures and budget of the department/hospital.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare admitting, billing and collection criteria. Demonstrate knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT, and basic accounting principles. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel a must. Must possess and display exemplary customer service skills. Excellent interpersonal skills w/peers, subordinates, superiors. Ability to supervise, train, educate others. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to handle changing working conditions, deal w/large volumes and varieties of tasks, and work well under pressure. Ability to maintain professional attitude/appearance. Must take initiative, exercise good judgment, and demonstrate resourcefulness in problem solving. Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks. In addition to one of the following:
Associates degree in business or healthcare related field and three years’ experience in related field or discipline or
High school diploma and five years’ experience in related field or discipline in lieu of associate degree.
Preferred/Optional: Associates degree in business or healthcare with a course of study in a related field or discipline. Experience in a supervisory or management role.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required: None
Preferred/Optional: professional certification/accreditation desired such as a Certified Health Administration Manager (CHAM), Certified Health Access Associate (CHAA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or other related certification.
