Overview M Health Fairview Woodwinds Hospital, located in Woodbury, Minnesota is looking for a dedicated Perioperative Supervisor to help lead the OR and Pre-Post team! The Perioperative Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Manager/Director with department operations in the OR and Pre-Post. As needed partners with nursing leader/s to assure environment is conducive to excellence in nursing practice. This includes supervision of personnel and projects as delegated, including but not limited to hiring, discipline and performance evaluations. This position will work 80 hours every two weeks with day/evening rotating shifts, and it is a salaried position. Check out more of our benefits information here: www.fairview.org/noncontract Responsibilities Job Description Supervises staff within perioperative services: Interviews and selects qualified employees to fill vacancies and build a team. Supports orientation of new employees to role, department and organization. Provides a welcoming and supportive environment. Establishes effective relationships with staff, which promotes and improves employee engagement. Clarifies expectations. Provides feedback and coaching. Uses corrective action when necessary. Assists with development and completion of annual staff competencies, monitoring compliance and takes action for non-compliance. Supports staff development and learning opportunities to meet identified needs. Provides timely, accurate, and fair performance reviews. Understands and follows contract guidelines as applicable. Understands and follows human resource policies and practices. As needed, partners with accountable nursing leader/s to assure nursing practice needs are addressed. Assists in managing the day-to-day or shift-to-shift operations: Plans work schedules. Maintains appropriate staffing by adjusting volumes to meet the needs. Monitors and prioritizes assignments to assure timely, productive, and efficient use of resources. Uses creative solutions to resolve problems and keep operations running smoothly. Expects and achieves productivity and quality standards. Maintains a safe working environment. Understands workplace ergonomics. Expects and reinforces appropriate infection control practices. Ensures accountability with emergency preparedness and response. Investigates incidents in a thorough and expeditious manner. Focuses on patients, team members, provider service requirements, and other customers: Understands the importance of patient experience and safety within perioperative services. Sets an example of good customer experience including proactive service and conflict resolution. Takes action to meet customer needs. Acts as a role model: Communicates effectively with staff, providers, patients, colleagues, and customers. Maintains composure in difficult situations. Assists with managing fiscal operations of the unit: Evaluates patient and clinical staffing and scheduling needs. Monitors budgets standards through assessment of variances and supporting action plans. Completes/audits payroll reports and timesheets. Monitors other resource utilization. Collaborates with Nursing and Provider leadership to implement and evaluate standards of practice Collects and analyzes quality data and utilizes process improvement methodology to insure deliver of safe and quality patient care Demonstrates skills/abilities in provision of patient care within the periop environment As needed, partners with clinical leaders to create an environment that advances evidence-based practice: Promotes a culture that encourages the staff to incorporate data and information into practice that will improve care and enhance patient outcomes. Uses administrative/management evidence to make decisions regarding a healthy work environment, resource allocation, staffing and patient and employee satisfaction.
