Supervisor-Production Equipment Maintenance

The Supervisor- Production Equipment Maintenance supervises the maintenance, reconstruction and repair of a wide variety of production or processing machines and equipment, i.e., CNC punch press, drill press, CNC lathes, screw machine ,CNC milling machine, grinder, pump, compressor, hydraulic press, conveyor, mixer, electrical installation of various voltages, lift trucks, cranes etc.

Duties & Responsibilities

Promote, implement, and enforce S&C’s culture, guiding principles, policies and procedures, and code of conduct within team. Oversee the ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement activities of the plant equipment and ensure that equipment operates at a high level of efficiency and effectiveness. Provide daily supervision for Electrical and Mechanical technicians, focusing on meeting expectations for safety, quality, delivery, and human development. Lead root cause analysis investigations for equipment failures or process deviations to prevent recurrence and improve reliability. Coach and lead direct reports on production equipment troubleshooting for electro-mechanical breakdown.  Create action plans and tracking tools on KPIs, maintain KPI boards, report out on priorities, and implement countermeasures when targets are missed. Identify training needs for maintenance staff and coordinate training programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge. Conduct department and safety meetings, promote safety awareness, and investigate and report on safety incidents. Prioritize and execute planned maintenance, spot repairs and project work including the coordination of cross shift efforts. Conduct performance appraisals for direct reports and develop team member skills and future leadership potential. Implement and contribute ideas for system and process improvements for the department. Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department, applying methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma to streamline processes and reduce waste. Initiate decisions regarding hires, promotions, and corrective actions.  Develop and implement emergency response procedures for equipment failures or other critical incidents to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity Coordinate and manage vendors and contractors, ensuring S&C’s safety program is followed. Support Maintenance Coordinators in processing orders and maintaining the Inventory of stock item and acting as the Planner if needed. Work with other cross functional groups to meet departmental KPI’s.  Support manufacturing and other departments as needed  All other duties as assigned by management
 

Minimum Requirements

Post-Secondary school certificate, diploma or degree, preferably in an Engineering or Maintenance program or equivalent experience. A valid Ontario Electrician License 309A and/or 442A or Certified Millwright 433A is desired. 3+ years of experience in a similar role with leadership experience. Strong mechanical, electrical, electronic, PLC, and controls background Experience in hydraulic and pneumatic systems Experience in preventative maintenance and repair of CNC punch press, drill press, CNC lathes, screw machine, CNC milling machine, grinder, pump, hydraulic press, conveyor, mixer, electrical installation of various voltages, lift trucks, cranes etc.  Experience in leading and managing the execution of processes Experience in developing, implementing, and auditing standardized work instructions in a manufacturing facility. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with flexibility to adapt to change based on business requirement.

Work Schedule: Onsite 

Physical Effort

Normal or frequent minor physical effort required for the day-to-day activity in the workplace. May involve standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 5kg/11lbs
