Job OverviewThis position is responsible for the direct supervision of shop technicians, maintaining scheduling of all work, and communicating and advising customers (both external and internal) on all aspects of repairs. It is also responsible for enforcing company policies and procedures, including safety, fatigue policy, and the Union contract.
Key Job Responsibilities- Supervise the shop crew, from scheduling labor and parts to handling disciplinary issues.
- Evaluate all completed jobs to ensure quality and full work scope completion.
- Develop and maintain repair schedules for all personnel on a daily basis.
- Work directly with the Planner and oversee the ordering of necessary parts and materials, providing all pertinent information for the preparation of cost analysis and invoicing of closed work orders.
- Maintain constant communication with internal and external customers by providing repair estimates, change recommendations, scheduling, and completion dates, and obtaining customer approval for all the above.
- Collaborate with the Account Manager to develop quotes, work scopes, and timeframes.
- Oversee the receiving, delivery, and maintenance of all rental units upon arrival.
Qualifications/Requirements- Associate's Degree in Diesel or Equipment Technology or equivalent.
- Must be highly organized to manage the labor force, man-hours, consumables, parts, safety training, and maintenance of all equipment.
- 5 years of experience as a heavy equipment technician.
- Thorough understanding of basic welding and mechanical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of company products, including specifications, applications, operation, maintenance, structure/function, and testing/adjusting/repair.
- Must be able to speak in a public environment.
