Supervisor Site Supply Chain Operations
Overview Responsible to manage day-to-day activities and staff for surgical case cart, central supply, sterile processing of surgical instruments, linen services, medical equipment, shipping & receiving, couriers, and mail operations. Provides strong leadership to contract and non-contract staff in a series of job classes including hiring, staff development, terminations, and resolution of grievances in contract areas. Develops and maintains climate of exceptional customer service with optimally engaged team. Interacts with hospital department managers and supervisors to establish service levels and to resolve customer complaints. Responsible for hospital wide distribution, stocking, and management of inventory levels and expiration dates. Accountable for favorable performance of labor and expense costs for designated supply chain departments. Actively participates in department budgeting and goal setting process. Serves as subject matter authority on surgical / medical supplies and equipment. Recommends and implements opportunities for improvements in customer service, cost reductions, operational processes. Responsibilities Job Description Direct day-to-day work activities of staff performing work in multiple departments. Ensures processes and operations for the following activities meet or exceed customer expectations (preparation of surgical case carts, decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments, management of central stores, distribution, couriers, and management of inventory and durable medical equipment, shipping and receiving, linen distribution and inventory levels, and mail room operations). Accountable to deliver service and maintain inventory at appropriate levels to meet hospital’s needs. Responsible to develop and maintain effective team proficiency on tasks in multiple job classes. Seeks out continuous operational improvements to reduce cost and improve customer service levels. Develops staff to build engaged work force though coaching, mentoring, and instructing. Schedules shifts and adjusts staffing to accommodate workload. Demonstrates exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Coordinates with departmental directors and managers to establish and maintain optimal inventory levels and delivery schedules. Provides exceptional customer service to entire hospital by effectively responding to and resolving customer requests and complaints. Responds to customers in timely and professional manner. Ensures inventory and service levels meet or exceed customer needs. Works closely with departments, staff, and outside vendors to coordinate support to hospital. Offers recommendations for improvements and cost reductions. Responsible for management for contract and non-contract staff. Works closely with human resources department to ensure compliance with Fairview policies and procedures. Conducts interviews, hires, transfers, terminates staff, and resolves grievances as vital. Conducts employee performance appraisals including timely recognition and disciplinary actions. Create and maintain an effective management climate that insures all employees are actively “engaged” in the execution of the materials mission, are participating in the improvement process, and are appropriately challenged in the execution of their daily activities. Accountable for the financial performance relating to labor and department expenses. Creates, maintains, and presents management and financial reports to reduce cost and improve operations. Participates in department budgeting process. Implements and supports corporate and site initiatives. Demonstrates ability to deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level of population served. Partners with patient/caregiver in care/decision making. Communicates in a supportive manner. Ensures a safe, secure environment. Individualizes plan of care to meet patient needs. Modifies clinical interventions based on population served. Provides patient education based on an assessment of learning needs of patient/caregiver. Qualifications Education HS diploma Experience 3 Years’ experience in non-healthcare supply chain, supervisory role, or 1 years’ experience in healthcare supply chain. Preferred Education BA/BS, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Nursing, or related field. Experience 3 years supervisory experience in healthcare union environment.
