Overview The purpose of this position is to lead a professional team who are responsible for the company’s electric and gas sourcing operations. This leadership role will be assigned coverage responsibility for designated business areas within the Company that may expand across subsidiary business lines for collaborative benefit attainment. This position is responsible for overseeing daily sourcing activities within the group and ensuring internal customer satisfaction in meeting the company's capital improvement, maintenance, efficiency and operational excellence needs. The position provides guidance and direction to the professional staff in supporting internal business teams in multiple states and jurisdictions in areas such as cost-effective service, optimized delivery of shared services, business technical specification and process standardization efforts, effective supplier engagement and contract coordination, achievement of customer service and safety commitments, and transmission and distribution system reliability. #PPL #INDPPL Responsibilities Continued responsibility to source full complement of key assigned material and service commodities in support of designated business area operations and performance or Utility capital projects, maintenance, or other initiatives. Supervise the day-to-day activities of the professional buying staff and the support staff to ensure internal customer satisfaction, even workload distribution and backup support during times of vacation, extended illness or absence. Act as a primary contact for the Company business area leaders regarding the acquisition of materials and services in support of daily operations, capital projects and transformation management and initiatives. Provide direction, guidance and coaching to subordinates and prepare performance reviews of professional staff that report to them. This will also include providing feedback to external parties on contracted staff performance. Interface with the respective Managers and senior leadership team in the Supply Chain organization to plan and implement strategic initiatives, properly allocate and schedule workloads and resources. Identify and coordinate the planning for or acquisition of materials and services with other Supply Chain teams and supervisors/leaders for company business line operations that are located across states and jurisdictions to drive collaboration and identification of efficiencies, savings, material standardization and consistency in operations across the Company. Assess the skills of the Sourcing professional and support staff to ensure that the proper type and level of training is identified with the team members and provided as part of the individual’s personal development plan. Interface and plan effectively with project management, engineering, operations, IT, budgeting, and logistics' staff to lead collaboration and optimize joint processes and ensure all material procured to support project execution. This will also include support for joint data and information sharing, along with system and technology implementation and enhancement projects that will lead to process changes and benefits derived across these areas of the business. Drive excellence, process improvement and innovation. Build ongoing vendor relationships, manage supplier risk and performance, and implement efficient sourcing strategies, ensuring optimal supplies and services are available at the lowest total cost of ownership. Also, perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking. If applicable, in-person supervision of employees to ensure compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act wage and hour issues as well as to monitor compliance with safety rules. Physical presence in the office/on-site on a planned basis to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers operating in a hybrid work environment. For remote staff members, ongoing direct engagement and tracking of performance to ensure high performance levels. Promote, execute and track goals and results of supplier diversity and corporate sustainability initiatives in sourcing awards and company spend with diverse suppliers and prime business partners. May be assigned an emergency and storm restoration role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule. Serve as an advocate for effective change management and support organizational goals for benefits derived from system and process integrations across all operating companies and business areas supported. All other duties and projects as assigned by Management. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree required. A minimum of five years of sourcing or related experience, including experience with negotiation of commercial Terms and Conditions. Preferred Qualifications Previous supervisory experience. Two or more years of electric or gas utility operations sourcing experience. Lean and/or Six Sigma certification or equivalent program. Business, Engineering or Supply Chain Management degree. Experience in utility operations. Strong skills in data analytics Master of Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business Administration degree.
