Supervisor Team Lead II Processing Operations

Job Summary 

 Intermediate level Team Lead is accountable for the timely processing/weighing or sanitation of global cosmetic and OTC (over the counter) products according to established quality and operating criteria and standards for finished goods in excess of 15MM units per month. Acts with moderate guidance from cell managers and/or Team Lead III. Conducts research on processing operations issues and makes recommendations for good business decisions. Contributes to ensuring safe working practices are followed and contributes ideas to simplify and standardize the workplace. Shares ownership in achieving world-class performance and continuous improvement of processing/weighing. This role is accountable for helping to achieve strategies and goals of becoming the world-class, low-cost/high-quality producer of choice. Drives employee alignment and engagement across the value streams of the business. Responsible for developing, coaching, and mentoring team members for excellent performance. The team leader is responsible for providing the direct leadership to production employees in value streams, including work scheduling and assignment, employee training, ensuring production quality and quantity requirements are met; evaluating staffing needs, administering safety, communication, teambuilding, etc. These goals need to be accomplished safely and effectively through utilization, development, and adherence to the Mary Kay manufacturing system.

About the Role

Leads and directs the activities of assigned cell of Production Coordinators, Processing/Weighing Technicians, and/or Precision Tech to effectively weigh/manufacture bulk products according to GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and production specifications. Selects, trains, motivates, counsels, and rewards subordinate staff to ensure the achievement of departmental goals. Instructs staff in the areas of quality control, general manufacturing procedures, and safety issues. Must work towards continuous improvement in all areas of production. Creates a specific line of sight that tells employees where we are going, how we will get there, and the expectations. Develops team to own day to day operational issues. Inspects department areas to ensure safety and cleanliness standards are in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices and 6S Lean Manufacturing practices. Responsible for all safety issues affecting employees, including taking action to minimize risk of injury as needed.Maintains control of production man-hours by monitoring area efficiency reports. Reviews daily production reports to maintain and improve scheduled production levels of the finished product for distribution. Develops and implements control systems interprets information, and implements problem-solving actions and continuous improvement processes.Ensures proper utilization of equipment, manpower, and materials to eliminate downtime, injuries, and/or scrap. Develops more efficient means to identify limiting factors of equipment, staffing, and materials to better utilize available resources and maximize productivity.Analyzes equipment problems to isolate specific causes (i.e. man, method, machine, materials) and participates in troubleshooting of equipment utilizing scientific methodologies such as Cause & Effect, FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis, PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act), 5 Why’s, etc. Consults with support teams, as necessary to determine root cause and implement corrective action. Analyzes equipment problems to isolate specific causes (i.e. man, method, machine, materials) and participates in troubleshooting of equipment utilizing scientific methodologies such as Cause & Effect, FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis, PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act), 5 Why’s, etc. Consults with support teams, as necessary to determine root cause and implement corrective action. Ensures proper utilization of equipment, manpower, and materials to eliminate downtime, injuries, and/or scrap. Develops more efficient means to identify limiting factors of equipment, staffing, and materials to better utilize available resources and to maximize productivity. Interacts with Scheduling, Planning, Packaging, Engineering, Quality, Warehousing, and other support functions to identify and resolve issues impacting product quality and/or production efficiencies. Reacts quickly to multiple situations involving production. Thinks creatively and independently in leading team efforts in resolving recurring issues. Leads change effectively in a high employee involvement and teamwork oriented environment. Maintains control of production man-hours by monitoring area efficiency reports. Reviews daily production reports to maintain and improve scheduled production levels of finished product for distribution. Develops and implements control systems, interprets information, and implements problem-solving actions and continuous improvement processes. Plans and supervises the repair of production equipment to minimize production downtime and cost. Analyzes downtime reports and consults with Planning and Engineering to establish repair priorities. Coordinates scheduling of preventive maintenance (PM) and repairs to maximize productivity. Follows established Trigger Point system to notify and drive decisions regarding machine failure, product and/or component defects. Assess the quality of component parts and products by inspecting appearance, function, color, viscosity, and correctness by using all available information pertaining to the production run. Audits each line at startup to ensure all production requirements are in compliance.

Full-time employment
Work Hours - 12 hrs/day - Wednesday - Friday (36 hrs/week)
Work schedule - 5:50 PM - 6:20 AM

Skills & Experience:

Education: Must have a Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience  OR an Associate degree with 5+ years of experience

Experience: Engineering, Cosmetic or Manufacturing

Additional Skills & Abilities:

 Ability to understand the business and make sound business recommendations. Must have a proven ability to demonstrate leadership skills in a team environment. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with subordinates and other Manufacturing personnel. Must have organization, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills in order to analyze equipment problems and isolate root causes Must be flexible to change shifts and/or schedules due to changing business needs.
