Supervisor Team Lead II Reliability

Job Summary:

Supervises a team of maintenance technicians across multiple shifts within the Operations Reliability department. Assesses the skill level of direct reports and provides training, coaching, and developmental opportunities to further their skill sets. Reviews direct reports’ daily work through the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Drives continuous improvement through Kaizen events, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning by leveraging trend analysis, the 5-Why process, and other lean tools. Collaborates with cell engineers to plan and execute equipment improvement projects, refitting equipment, and new equipment installation. Proactively communicates equipment issues with Operations concerning downtime, planned work, and departmental initiatives. Sets clear expectations to provide timely feedback, accountability, and recognition to drive improved performance. Leads team to focus on safe working practices, improving equipment reliability, and standardization of the workplace. Takes ownership and accountability of equipment performance and reliability to help achieve strategies and goals of becoming the world-class, low-cost/high-quality producer of choice.

About the Role:

Supervises and develops a maintenance team within the Reliability Department.

•        Initiates development plans for team members.

•        Tracks daily, weekly, and monthly progress of oneself and team to identify risks to completing planned/required work.

•        Develops team through setting clear expectations based on Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and provides coaching, guidance, accountability, and recognition of good performance.

•        Works across multiple shifts and understands how each role on the team supports the overall business goals.

•        Performs periodic quality of work audits of technicians and provides timely coaching and feedback to address gaps in expectations.

•        Performs periodic evaluation and revision of procedures, processes, and work instructions.

•        Seeks team's feedback and concerns with an open mind.

•        Provides team with tools and resources to become an agent for change.

•        Coaches direct reports on demonstrating honesty and integrity in the business.

•        Partners with internal Reliability teams involving:

•        Collaboration with the CMMS team to balance technician workload and optimize repairs planned and preventative maintenance.

•        Drives equipment owners to review and update PM procedures on a yearly basis and after major breakdowns.

•        Collaborate with counterparts to identify areas of opportunity and propose projects that focus on increased efficiencies, increased production, cost reduction, waste reduction, quality improvement, and safety improvements.

Partners with external Operations teams involving:

•        Proposes timelines for major equipment outages and projects, minimizing the impact on plant production.

•        Proactively communicates to the customer base, providing updates on equipment downtime, root cause, and corrective action plans.

•        Communicates team KPI's to the customer base while driving action plans to close gaps.

•        Proposes mistake-proofing devices, controls, and processes for production equipment.

•        Partners with the CI group for a consistent approach to improvement project work and implementation.

•        Participates in Kaizen events and improvement projects, utilizing structured problem-solving tools such as RCA, A3 reporting, 5-Why, PDCA, DMAIC, etc.

•        Partners with Engineering to evaluate equipment capabilities for new product development.

Follows a Maintenance Program that focuses on the reliability of equipment through:

•          Ensures that maintenance activities align with the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications.

•          Ensures that equipment is maintained in a Validated state in accordance with FDA Regulations.

•          Adheres to Environmental Health and Safety Guidelines and Regulations.

•          Follows Change Control Guidelines

•          Proposes and executes equipment reliability projects.

•          Adheres to an established training plan and ensures each team member's completion.

•          Proposes additional job specific trainings for the team.

This job requires on-site work at a Mary Kay facility.

Full-time employment
Work Hours - 8 hrs/day - Monday-Friday (40 hrs/week)
Work schedule - 8:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Skills & Experience:

Education:  Bachelor/University Degree in Engineering, Business, or equivalent field

Experience:  3+ years with Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years with an Associate degree and 3+ years supervisory experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing/production equipment maintenance, or engineering

Additional Skills & Abilities

•      Must possess technical knowledge of automated packaging equipment.

•      Must have general knowledge of LEAN principles, including Autonomous Maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and associated training tools such as Work Point Analysis and Control Plans.

•      Must have problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to analyze equipment problems and isolate specific causes.

•      Must have the ability to communicate effectively to interface with multiple internal customers as well as equipment vendors, contractors, and others to meet project requirements. Must have the ability to utilize courtesy and tact in interactions with department and Company personnel in the exchange of information and resolution of problems.

•      Must have demonstrated soft skills to resolve operational problems and human relations concerns successfully.

•      Must have knowledge of manufacturing regulations to conduct routine housekeeping and GMP guidelines, monitor SOP compliance, monitor safety compliance, and implement corrective actions.

•      Shift or schedule change may be necessary due to changing business needs.
