Locations: Ludlow, Massachusetts; Waterbury, Connecticut

Reporting to Eversource/HOPCO/EGMA LNG management, this position is responsible for the direct support of LNG/LPG and Eversource corporate objectives set to ensure that all Eversource LNG/LPG facilities are maintained and operated safely and reliably while strictly adhering to all regulatory requirements.



The Supervisor Trainee, LNG/LPG will:

Work closely with LNG/LPG Managers, Plant Superintendents, Plant Supervisors, LNG Operations, LNG Maintenance, Capital Investment team, and Engineers to develop the skills within 12 months of hire to:

Oversee direct reports and outside contractors

Set and manage safety and environmental objectives

Review and approve timesheets

Schedule required resources.

Develop 1yr/5yr budgets

Manage and perform in conjunction with their direct and functional reports:

Development and updating of operation and maintenance procedures.

The retention of LNG records.

Inspection and maintenance of all affiliated compliance programs.

Implementing process improvements within these programs and ensuring that all plans are tailored to the current or adopted codes utilized by inspecting agencies to evaluate the LNG facilities.

Understand all regulatory aspects of the Eversource LNG/LPG Facilities regarding security, safety, training, maintenance and operations in accordance with 220 CMR 104/220, 49 CFR Part 193 and NFPA 59/59A.It is anticipated that significant time will be spent supporting Ludlow LNG and Waterbury LNG. This position is based out of those locations, and Hopkinton MA and will support all LNG/LPG locations including:Acushnet LNG, Acushnet MAEaston LNG, Easton MAHopkinton LNG, Hopkinton MALawrence LNG/LPG, Lawrence MALudlow LNG, Ludlow MAMarshfield LNG, Marshfield MAMeadow Lane LPG, Brockton MANorthampton LPA, Northampton MAWaterbury LNG, Waterbury CT

Essential Functions:  

Develop the skills to supervise subordinate employees:

Assign duties aligned with LNG/LPG operations department objectives, 

Set performance goals.

Perform employee performance reviews and employee differentiation

Review and approve subordinate time, 

Provide leadership and guidance to subordinates.

Establish and promote a culture of safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental responsibility.

Develop and implement necessary training programs for LNG operations staff in accordance with 49 CFR 193.

Ensure that the facility documents are developed, reviewed, and implemented in an efficient manner.

Evaluate operational training programs on a regular basis to ensure they have the necessary core competencies to carry out operational and maintenance requirements.

Communicate with federal, state, and local regulators

Coordinate and communicate with plant operations, engineering departments and external stakeholders.

Certify that Eversource corporate requirements are communicated to staff and that policies are implemented and followed.

Manage and oversee any 3rd party contracts supporting Eversource LNG facilities. 

Network with LNG/LPG operations personnel to share lessons learned, experiences, and knowledge to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Ensure regulatory compliance for Federal Energy Regulatory, Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, Public Utilities Regulatory Authority and Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities inspections.

Participate/perform regulatory audits at all facilities, document and track results and work with plant supervisors and engineers to overcome compliance deficiencies.

Strong leadership and administrative abilities.

Creativity to develop compliance programs from scratch with limited assistance.

Ability to establish a culture of safety, reliability, efficiency, and compliance.

Effective communication with different groups, including operations staff, maintenance staff, engineering departments, human resources, federal, state, and local regulators, external stakeholders, and other Eversource corporate groups.

Familiar with the overall operation of natural gas distribution companies. 

Ability to clearly and effectively write, implement, and maintain manuals and procedures.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering of relevant technical discipline.

Experience:    

6-months of relevant natural gas experience and demonstrable/verifiable knowledge of LNG facility regulatory requirements under 49 CFR 193, 49 CFR 191 and NFPA 59A desired.

Compensation and Benefits:

Working Conditions:

Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.Work is performed in an office environment which requires sitting, standing and general movement throughout the office area, as well as in the field in varied conditions and at job sites, service centers and customer premises.
