Opportunity summary: As a Supervisor Trainee, you will learn to be responsible for working with the GM to ensure our team's safety, product quality, and performance throughout various shifts. You will identify opportunities within the shifts to improve performance and execution, coordinate and manage the quality/production efforts of the hourly team, and lead efforts to achieve key performance metrics that support overall Plant goals. This is a Non Union role. You will be paid as an hourly employee, and you will be paid overtime your work over forty hours per week. Hourly rate will depend on your experience.
You will impact WestRock by learning to lead teams on the Converting side of the packaging industry. Your development will include learning to:
Manage the quality of converting output, ensuring all product is within specifications and meets customer needsModel and promote safety within the shift by leading safety meetings, responding to potential hazards, coordinating with shift maintenance to correct hazards, performing safety audits, and partnering with advocates and safety leaders to support all safety program initiativesManage performance and downtime of Converting machines by troubleshooting and preventing issues that could cause downtime or breaks and resolving issues in timely fashionWork with trainees and salaried personnel to ensure equipment downtime is fully utilized and scheduled to optimize the maintenance work that can be performed while the machine is downPartner with the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Fast Tracker and Maintenance Planner to identify and prioritize maintenance work on machinesLead the accident/incident investigation for any incidents that occur in the departmentAssist with the review and approval of Engineering drawings and designs to prevent equipment and/or process conflictsUtilize the Plant Department’s Standard Operating Procedures, Converting Department’s General Operating Procedures and Operating GuidelinesAssist with the review and identification of root causes for customer issuesSupervise the hourly employees and ensure necessary training, development, and supportEstablish individual goals and evaluate work performance for direct reports.Develop effective partnerships with plant hourly employees to improve overall plant production.Assist with the review and updating of department training material, specifically working with operators to coach them in the qualification process.
What you need to succeed:
High School diploma or G.E.D.Prior experience in corrugated packaging. Westrock production experience is highly valuedAn excellent attendance and disciplinary recordDemonstrated leadership abilityA high regard for safetyStrong communication, and interpersonal skills leveraged to motivate stakeholders and achieve alignment across the organization.Ability to learn proprietary software programs.Understanding of the principles of continuous improvement Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
