Description Position at MacAllister Machinery

Objective

This position leads the parts operations and manages all aspects of the Parts Department, which provides parts support to heavy equipment and engine customers. Primary duties of the position include but are not limited to, planning, staffing, work assignments and monitoring policies and procedures to assure the department functions safely and at capacity.  Provides customer service that meets or exceeds customer expectations and develops departmental profitability and growth.

ResponsibilitiesManages and provides leadership for all branch warehouse staff. Develops work processes and branch parts operation performance measurements, including new parts, returns, back orders and cores, to meet and/or exceed the expectations and needs of individual customers in the areas of price, quality and turnaround time.Supervises, directs, motivates and provides leadership for all branch warehouse staff. This includes scheduling, performance evaluations, assessing skills and competencies, administering policy and procedures as it relates to the staff, developing action plans, coaching, mentoring and training.  The incumbent assesses the required level of performance and assigns duties and compensation accordingly to assure that the warehouse functions efficiently and at capacity while maintaining employee satisfaction. Monitors and ensures compliance with all safety policies, procedures, guidelines and laws as it pertains to all warehouse staff, company personnel within the warehouse premises and customers.Maintains all facilities and equipment in excellent, safe operating conditions to assure the safety of all employees and customers.Works with the Parts Manager to create the vision of the warehouse and a plan of implementation.Performs related duties as required.QualificationsKnowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through a high school education or the equivalent with a two-year degree in a business related discipline preferred.5 to 7 years’ parts, field service or shop repair experience as a mechanic, field technician, foreman, parts counter person, etc., preferably with Caterpillar equipment.Excellent mechanical aptitude.Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, non-verbal, listening and presentation skills.Excellent coaching and counseling skills with good influence and negotiation skills.Excellent customer service skills, strong prospecting skills and the ability to administer warranties.Strong leadership skills, including creative thinking, decision-making, planning and goal setting skills.Strong management skills, including planning, organizational and change, conflict, and performance management skills with good interviewing and project management skills.A thorough knowledge of the product and the market with a strong respect for the Caterpillar influence.Good analytical skills, including problem solving and the ability to interpret financing plans, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations.Good computer skills, including the ability to operate Microsoft Office software and CAT database systems and PC Programs.The ability to obtain and maintain a State of Indiana driver’s license.The ability to uphold professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance and friendly, courteous treatment of peers, subordinates and customers.
