Who will you be working with?
L&M Radiator, Inc. is a global designer, manufacturer, and distributor of MESABI cooling and heat transfer solutions that are custom-made for heavy equipment in the mining, oil, gas, construction and heavy industrial industries. We are looking for an individual to join our welding team. This position works directly with welders, production shop supervisors, the Production Manager, and the Production Coordinator on a daily basis. This position may also work with production engineers, the R&D department, and application engineers on shop related projects.
This position rotates shifts every other week on days and afternoons. Day shift operates Monday through Friday 6:00am - 2:00pm. Afternoon operates Monday through Friday 2:00pm - 10:00pm. OT is possible depending on production needs.
How will you make a difference?
As the welding supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising a welding crew and ensuring product coordination to meet customer expectations for quality and delivery. This position works directly with our Steel Prep and Paint departments as a part of our fabrication and assembly process. This role may observe, guide, and assist with training. Responsible for effectively communicating with Production Manager and other affected departments if ship dates cannot be met or delays occur for other departments.Review jobs for special instructions and procedures.Train, evaluate, monitor, and motivate personnel.Responsible for department personnel as it relates to disciplinary actions, terminations, organization, attendance, schedules or hiring.Organize OT when needed.Maintain and correct employee time on database systems and communicate with payroll on issues and corrections.Ensure all personnel follow safety procedures.Attend required meetings including, but not limited to supervisor’s meetings, quarterly safety, training, and other meetings when directed.Ensure back-up supervisor is knowledgeable to take over as needed.Keep all areas in shop neat, clean, and orderly.Responsible for production planning for the Welding Department including current and future builds that are scheduled weeks or months out.Effectively communicate with all shifts and departments to ensure smooth workflow.Complete daily “HIT” list to aid knowledge on specific builds.Maintain “BIR” reports and keep current.Review monthly QC report for areas of concern.Serve as a coordinator for the Emergency Contingency Plan.Assist in other areas of production as needed if qualified.Perform work in a safe manner and follows all safety guidelines and procedure.Domestic and international travel required and could include weekend travel depending on the project.Perform related work and other duties as required by supervisor. May do the following:Attend safety meetings in representative’s absence.Supervisor Steel Prep Department.Ensure Steel Prep lead personnel are performing their duties.Responsible for organizing Steel Prep area.What about the physical demands of the job?
Wear correct PPE – earplugs, protective eye wear, steel-toed boots, and work provided uniform (gloves when necessary)Lift a minimum of 50lbs.Stand on concrete for 8-10 hours.Work in high heat conditionsPractice and maintain safe work conditions.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required for Entry Level:
Regular and reliable attendance.Manage people, have organizational abilities, resourceful and establish priorities.Work well in highly changing environment.Blueprint, schematic, technical and assembly reading experience necessary.Maintain quality and safety standards.Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.Ability to communicate, in English, effectively and clearly by both written and verbal means.Work effectively and efficiently in the resolution of difficult and/or stressful issues.Prepare routine administrative reports and paperwork using Microsoft Office Suite Products.Basic math skills required, use of calipers, tape measure, and micrometers essential.Ability to pass a pre-employment math test, physical, drug and background test.Preferred Qualifications:
2-year Welding degree and 5 years of welding supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing setting.Knowledge of Epicor or similar ERP system.Experience in Lean Manufacturing.Experience reading SolidWorks blueprints.You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
This role is also eligible for a performance bonus.

The salary range for this role is between $60,000 - $90,000. The actual salary range offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
