In this position you will plan, organize and direct activities of civilian Air Traffic Control Specialists to comply with legal and regulatory requirements to meet customer needs. You will oversee complex air traffic operations, including the direction of aircraft in a multi-faceted airspace system. Plan, organize, and direct the activities of civilian Air Traffic Control Specialists, ensuring that the Eglin Radar Control Facility (ERCF) complies with legal and regulatory requirements to meet customer needs. Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time. Represent the Airfield Operations Flight, Eglin Radar Control Facility (ERCF) with a variety of installation and functional area organizations on civil and SUA airspace matters. Direct movement of aircraft utilizing a complex range of air traffic control knowledge performing difficult and multifaceted duties in the Eglin Radar Control Facility (ERCF), joint use commercial airport. Eglin Mission Controller (EMC). Direct and control special use airspace, encompasses both land and water ranges while minimizing impact to the FAA NAS. Operate communication and display equipment and provides emergency assistance to aircraft. Applicants MUST meet minimum qualification requirements on the basis of experience, education, or one of the alternate provisions described below. Specialized Experience in a military or civilian air traffic facility that demonstrated possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the level of work of the specialization for which application is made. This experience must have provided a comprehensive knowledge of appropriate air traffic control laws, rules, and regulations. For Terminal Positions: Issuing control instructions and advice to pilots in the vicinity of airports to assure proper separation of aircraft and to expedite their safe and efficient movement. This specialization also requires: Ability to act decisively under stressful situations and to maintain alertness over sustained periods of pressure; Skill to coordinate plans and actions with pilots and other controllers; and Judgment to select and take the safest and most effective course of action from among several available choices. Manage special use airspace encompassing military operating areas, restricted zones, and controlled firing areas to support high-interest DOD and NATO operations. Coordinates diverse mission activities, ensures compliance with scheduling requirements, and resolves issues affecting airspace integrity. Oversees emergency actions, system outages, and NOTAM coordination, providing expert guidance to ensure uninterrupted service and mission success. Balances technical expertise, leadership, and operational efficiency to sustain safe and seamless air traffic operations across a dynamic and challenging environment. Desired Skills: Ability to effectively work independently and with a team. At least 10 years ATC radar controller experience is highly desired. At least 10 years of ATC experience and experience in the ATC career field within the last 3 years is highly desired. Previous Eglin Radar Control Facility experience in the last 10 years is highly desired. Education Education For GS-5 Positions: A full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree meets the requirements for GS-5. For GS-7 Positions: Superior academic achievement at the baccalaureate level or 1 full year of graduate study meets the requirements for GS-7. Maximum Entry Age Under the provisions of 5 U.S.C. 3307, a maximum entry age has been established for Terminal and Center positions. Test Requirements Applicants for competitive appointment and in-service placement to all positions in this series at GS-7 and below must pass a written test.
