Summary The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is ISLAND OF OAHU. This is a Supervisory position located at MWR Fund Recreation Centers/Room Hale Ikena, Fort Shafter, HI. Responsibilities Plan and oversee day-to-day operations of a food service program, including sit-down restaurant dining and catering. Develop daily, catering, and specialty menus. Ensure menus balance nutritional values while maintaining quality standards. Provide forecasts for required tools, equipment, food items, and supplies. Control pricing and manage food/supply ordering, storage, and distribution. Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of menu items using standard to moderately complex and innovative cooking methods. Conduct regular inspections and evaluations to ensure: Safety protocols, Proper food storage, Kitchen sanitation, Overall operational efficiency Develop and manage operating budgets, identifying labor, equipment, and supply cost elements. Direct subordinates in all phases of service delivery. Provide comprehensive supervisory functions, including: Performance management, Training and development, Employee recognition, Conflict resolution. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Qualification Requirements: 1. Proven experience in a sit-down restaurant or catering operations, demonstrating knowledge and skills essential for managing and supervising a food service program. 2. Experience as a sous chef is highly preferred. 3. Successful completion of an accredited culinary program may be considered as a substitute for required experience. 5.Applicants must have valid Food Protection Manager Certification from an ANSI-accredited agency is required, such as the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Program. **Resume MUST clearly reflect the knowledge and experience listed under the qualifications criteria above.** Education **If you are relying on your education to meet qualification requirements: You MUST submit a copy of your transcript if you want to substitute your education for experience. Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials This is a pay-banded position. Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
