SUPERVISORY ELECTRONICS ENGINEER/SUPERVISORY COMPUTER SCIENTIST- DIRECT HIRING AUTHORITY

Responsibilities Plans work to be accomplished by subordinate employees, sets and adjusts short and long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the organization, related to the design, production, and maintenance of software and systems in support of weapons systems necessary to meet the organization and customer needs. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with other organizations that interface with the organization. Provides technical advice to management and personnel of other organizations supported by the organization pertaining to problems, tasks, or work involving any or all engineering/computer science specialties. Promotes safety/health in the work place through awareness and compliance with safety rules, regulations and best practices. Provides full cooperation with org/inspection teams to resolve deficiencies and promote customer satisfaction. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Professional knowledge of electronics engineering and computer science concepts, theories, principles, and practices and working knowledge of other disciplines, such as aerospace, industrial, mechanical, and/or electrical engineering; of a broad range of engineering standards, precedents, methods, and techniques to ensure work in compliance with regulations and standards; and the applicability of such knowledge to the full range of duties concerned with design, production, and maintenance of Operational Flight Programs, Automated Test Systems, Test Program Set Software, and other systems used to support the warfighter and weapons systems program offices. 2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 3. Knowledge of standard contracting regulations, practices, and procedures. 4. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. 5. Knowledge of budgeting, procurement, standard configuration and finding regulations, practices and processes related to system acquisition and sustainment management functions. 6. A professional degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or a closely related discipline is required. Education 1550 Series: Basic Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. Evaluation of Education: Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable. Additional Information The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a 1st level supervisor. Exercise 1st level technical and administrative supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the organization, related to the design, production, and maintenance of software and systems in support of weapons systems necessary to meet the organization and customer needs. Represent the organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Provide technical advice to management and personnel of other organizations supported by the organization pertaining to problems, tasks, or work involving any or all engineering/computer science specialties.
