Summary About the Position: Serve as Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist with the US Army Corps of Engineer District, Hunting Regional Rivers Repair Fleet, Pittsburgh Engineer Warehouse & Repair Station. Duty location will be negotiated at the time of selection. Neville Island is located in Pittsburgh, PA Responsibilities Planning of projects and efficient management of the workforce involved in the project is vital to the overall effectiveness of the Regional Rivers Repair Fleet Program. Prepares plans and recommendations for annual and long-range operation and maintenance of the Divisions Repair Stations and Fleets. Maintains awareness of the revolving fund budget for the Repair Station and assigned Repair Fleet. Regularly communicates with Fleet and Repair Station Branch Chiefs and supported district Technical Support and Maintenance Branch Chiefs to assure established work scopes are being executed to an acceptable standard and in a safe and timely manner. Makes program changes and modifications as appropriate to meet changing field conditions or needs in coordination with the supervisor. Performs the full range of supervisory and management functions over Section personnel to ensure an efficient and effective operation. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: supervising or leading the operation and/or maintenance of navigation facilities such as locks and dams, navigation channels and associated infrastructure. Overseeing the budgeting, operation and maintenance of floating and land plant such as towboats, floating cranes, mobile cranes and other construction equipment for the maintenance and repair of navigation facilities or riverine infrastructure. Overseeing the construction or maintenance of mooring facilities, bulk materials loading/unloading facilities, or heavy riverine construction. Knowledge of the maintenance and repair of navigation operating components such as emergency and miter gates and culvert valves, discharge/intake systems and operating machinery. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Facilities Management Maintenance Planning and Management Managing Human Resources Planning and execution Safety and Health Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year probationary period may be required. One year supervisory probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
