SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER
Summary You will serve as a Supervisory Firefighter in the Fire Department of NAS JAX. Responsibilities You will assist the Station Fire Chief in the overall direction of the Structural and Aircraft Fire Division. You will directly supervise Fire Captains in the structural and Crash Fire branches. You will attend fires and fire department drills and be in charge of the force when the Fire Chief is not present. You will initiate the Fire Chief's firefighting training programs. You will recommend leave schedules, resolved complaints and grievances, and refer others to higher authority . You will plan and schedule assignments, training and review work and recommend appropriate recognition for outstanding performance. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I/II, Airport Firefighter, Hazmat Technician, Hazmat Incident Command and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician, Fire Officer III, Fire Inspector II, and Fire Instructor II. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications, you will be rated ineligible and you must send them in with your resume for verification. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Possesses comprehensive knowledge and extensive practical experience in fire prevention/protection procedures and use of all types of state of the arc equipment; 2) Uses specialized fire prevention knowledge responsive to unique and complicated fire protection requirements of major base with training facilities; 3) Plans and directs fire protection and prevention programs, operations and supervise and work force through subordinate supervisors; 4) Utilizes a comprehensive knowledge of emergency communications within the fire service; 5) Designs and Develops complex procedures for the control of fire equipment and facilities; 6) Presents fire protection and prevention data requirements to the overall command; and 7) Persuades, negotiates, defends and gains acceptance of recommendations while exercising tact and diplomacy.
