Summary This Merit Promotion position is located in the Food and Drug Administration, Center for Tobacco Products, Office of Health Communication and Education, which is a comprehensive communication enterprise developed to support the goal of the CTP to reduce the public health burden of tobacco in the United States. Responsibilities The selectee will serve as a Supervisory Health Scientist. Typical work assignments include: Leading scientist and program consultants in various aspects of study or survey design processes. Expressing information for individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information. Serving as a project officer on grants or contracts with full responsibility for carrying out all required monitoring and management duties. Serving as an expert in health communication sciences and program evaluation for the agency. Providing counsel and data driven recommendations to leadership on scientific communications solutions. To qualify for this position at grade GS-14, you must meet Time-in-Grade requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 10/25/2024. Basic Requirements You have a bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. NOTE: Applicants must submit all relevant transcripts that demonstrate you possess the required education to meet the Basic Qualifications. Specialized Eperience: GS-14: Applicant must demonstrate one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-13 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Designing and managing scientific studies to assess the impact of public health education campaigns or social marketing programs; and Utilizing analytical methods and techniques to assess the effectiveness of digital and social media advertising. The specialized experience must demonstrate one year of full-time work experience , or the equivalent if part-time (for example, an employee working 20 hours per week for a 12-month period should be credited with 6 months of experience.)
