Supervisory Legal Administrative Specialist
Summary PLEASE NOTE: Based on the current hiring restrictions, selectees may be subject to additional approvals prior to an offer being extended. This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Deputy Commissioner (Financing and Operations), Post Payment Division. The primary purpose of this position is to supervise Legal Administrative Specialists (LAS) who handle the adjudication of check claims and check and Automated Clearing House (ACH) reclamations. Responsibilities As a Supervisory Legal Administrative Specialist , you will: Plan, organize, and oversee the activities of the Claims Adjudication Section, ensuring timely and accurate adjudication and that customers such as claimants, Federal Program Agencies, and law enforcement personnel receive accurate information and direction regarding check claims and check and ACH reclamations. Collaborate with the Branch Manager and Division Director to optimize use of resources and maximize efficiency and manpower. Evaluate requirements for additional resources and balance organization needs with overall mission requirements and resource interests. Perform first-level supervisory personnel management responsibilities such as overseeing leave and attendance; evaluating employee performance; recommending, reassigning, and promoting personnel; preparing position descriptions and performance requirements; identifying training needs; preparing budget estimates; and completing other anticipated personnel needs. Identify and recommend methods to improve operation, management and oversight of the Claims Adjudication Section involving continuous process improvement efforts, increased responsiveness, efficient use of resources, and quality service delivery. Requirements Conditions of Employment A one-year probationary period may be required. A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Periodic reinvestigation is required no later than five years after selection and at least every succeeding five years. Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required. File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on. This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time. Specialized experience for the GS-13 is defined as one year (1) of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position, and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes: -Experience applying payment and post payment regulations for the purpose of resolving exceptions or claims.; AND -Experience leading operational activities to accomplish production or performance goals. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
