Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the RADIOLOGICAL CONTROL OFFICE, RADIOLOGICAL MONITORING DIVISION (Code 105.3) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. Responsibilities You will be responsible for the control of personnel exposure to ionizing radiation, protection against radioactive contamination. responsible for the control of personnel exposure to ionizing radiation. You will be responsible for protection against radioactive contamination, and protection of the general public against exposure to ionizing radiation associated with naval nuclear propulsion plants. You will assure the proper control of radioactive material associated with naval nuclear propulsion plants. You will resolve and analyze technical problems and areas beyond the capacity of subordinates and problems which involve policy determination or recommends proposed resolutions to the Division Head for approval. You will be responsible for planning, organizing and managing personnel, equipment and procedures to accomplish assigned tasks such as reviewing the requirements prior to the arrival of a ship. You will resolve mutual work problems between the branch/division and Production, Planning, Ship's Force, and nuclear Engineering. You will provide expert advice on monitoring problems and on setting quality standards for new work. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing oversight on radiological control (RADCON) and regulatory requirements involving industrial radioactivity on major plant overhaul operations; determining course of action required to resolve anticipated technical radiological problems and ensuring that established radiological control procedures and practices are strictly adhered to; planning, directing, distributing and balancing workload amongst subordinates to support and minimize impact to assigned projects; resolving and analyzing technical problems and areas beyond the capacity of subordinates and problems which involve policy determination or recommends proposed resolutions to higher-level supervision for approval.
