Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Recreation Assistant (Outdoor Recreation) at Luke AFB, AZ. This is a Regular Full-Time position 35 hours guaranteed with benefits. Responsibilities Serves as the Outdoor Recreation (ODR) department Assistant Director and assumes responsibility for operational oversight of department in the absence of the Director. Performs and/or assists in the operation, maintenance and administrative support for ODR activities to include base resale lot, Fam Camp, pool, vehicle storage area, base parks and programs such as R4R and more. Serves as Outdoor Recreation Adventure Programmer. Within established policies and objectives, plans, develops coordinates, and conducts a variety of recreational clinics and trips in support of a large outdoor program. Implements higher-level directives, selects activities and services to be offered in addition to required basic programs. Schedules, publicizes and protest various clinics, trips and other activities. Ensures compliance with all state and local agencies regulatory requirements. Ensures all work is accomplished in accordance with standards set by management, AFISs, OIs, guiding policies and regulation, and daily operations run smoothly and efficiently. Provides guidance to employees for work assignments, relays instructions from management in all areas of ODR, sets the pork pace and ops tempo, and ensures site materials and tools are available to repair and perform preventative maintenance on equipment as needed. Ensures facility is always clean and organized, documents significant occurrences, and opens/closes the facility as required. Supervises a staff of 18 Rec. Assistants/Aids; assigns and reviews their work. Responsible for subordinate work force management to include supervising, discipline, training and development. Plans work schedules, determines performance objectives and rates performance. Develops budgets, markets cost effective programs and services that meet customer needs. Implements programs such as trips, tours, activity tournaments, social events, etc., followed by after action and post event financial reports. Ensures strict staff and patron safety rules and regulations are followed. Follows EEO principles and environmental requirements. Responsible for the implementation of cash controls; ensures cash register is cleared daily; financial reports are completed and deposits are accomplished. Approves financials within SAIS in the absence of the manager, while ensuring separation of duties as required. Conducts monthly resale inventories and supply orders via P-Card, Ensures operations are aligned to meet COS and NIAD goals and objectives. Maintains a system of accountability including inventory, security, and administrative controls for the recreation supply operation. Qualifying Experience: Experience in admin or office work. Familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs. Specialized experience working in an Outdoor Adventure Recreational Activity to include knowledge of equipment, rules and procedures in that area are required. Certifications in Wilderness First Responder, Leave No trace, and American Canoe Association are desirable. Completion of bachelor's degree in recreation management or a closely rated field is highly desirable. Experience in Microsoft software. The work requires physical exertion Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift items weighing up to 40lbs. Must be able to work outdoors. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
