Summary This position is located in the Government Accountability Office. As a Supervisory Security Specialist, MS-0080-1 you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the GAO Security Program that covers personnel and industrial security, information security, protection services, security awareness, and security compliance inspections. Responsibilities As a Supervisory Security Specialist, MS-0080-1, your typical work assignments may include the following: Develops and executes security program policies and procedures to protect facilities, personnel, and classified and unclassified sensitive information. Confers with, assists, and advises the Director and other staff members on security precedents, planning, and policy development. Plans and carries out program development, management, and administrative functions. Performs the full range of supervisory functins. Assisgns work and establishes workload priorities. Reviews and accepts or rejects work. Collaborates with external agencies to identify and incorporate security requirements for the overall protections of GAO information, personnel, and resources. Manages the functions of assigned branch programs. Analyzes, develops, and implements policies and procedures for the program and develops and promulgates guidance for GAO staff worldwide. Designs, plans, and carries out special projects and/or reviews to assist the Director on matters relating to the Branch's program and operationsl effectiveness. Completion of a probationary period may be required Qualifications You may qualify at the MS-1 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year (52 Weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the NEXT LOWER BAND LEVEL, equivalent to the AC-IV, PT-II, PE-1, CS-II or GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as practical experience: 1) managing a personnel security program for processing security clearances and conducting background checks; 2) planning, organizing, and directing team project work; 3) negotiating effectively with management to accept and implement recommendations; and 4) providing supervision and guidance in the development and implementation of comprehensive strategic plans and performance metrics. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education There is no education requirement for this position.
