The Director, Supplier Management has the mission to proactively: • Augment the reputation of Mouser in the marketplace as the distributor of choice. • Own their business by developing and delivering business, supplier and team goals. • Discover new suppliers, products, and advanced technologies. • Leads, develops and coaches team members toward operational excellence, overseeing the development of career roadmaps, strategic business acumen, industry and company knowledge. ACCOUNTABILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • In conjunction with Senior Management, organizes strategic career advancement and direction of the team members in their area of responsibility. Uses broad industry, supplier and market knowledge in implementing efforts to achieve specific revenue, customer and product goals. Is an expert in managing suppliers, understanding competitive landscape and developing the business with a global perspective. • Customarily and regularly directs the work of two or more full-time employees or their equivalent. Makes suggestions and recommendations for these employees regarding performance and change of status, including transfer, advancement, termination, and hiring. • Cultivates and maintains influential relationships with key suppliers and industry leaders, and expands Mouser’s market value by fostering unique solutions and advantages for suppliers. Positions Mouser as the preferred go-to-market partner with suppliers. Advocates for categories and suppliers by promoting their market value with the various internal departments. • Hires, trains and develops qualified people. Leads by example, providing both coaching and training to develop their team. Employs discretion when dealing with personnel issues. • Effectively communicates to all levels of management. Shows a high level of project and resource management skills, and provides ongoing performance management. Remains continuously up to-date with policies, procedures and processes. • Analyzes business, financial and technical market trends, information and reports to identify new opportunity for growth in current portfolio and in relevant line card expansion. Continually discovers, researches and recommends new suppliers, products and advanced technologies in support of new designs for customers. Expert at identifying, recommending and championing unique marketing opportunities for their assigned suppliers, employing Mouser’s many marketing tools and teams. • Continually evaluates inventory breadth and depth within company targets for categories and suppliers, maintaining the product mix which best meets corporate financial objectives, category strategies and customer requirements. Observes, articulates and effectively reacts to trends (supply and demand, political and environmental, etc.) affecting the marketplace, ensuring that they are implemented across the team. • Ensures that response to the various Mouser teams and departments is swift, exhibiting decisive, relevant and customer-focused solutions. • Demonstrates proficiency in the accountabilities, competencies and skills of the Corporate Supplier Manager role and coaches a team to excel in relationship, NPI, data, inventory, marketing and sales functions among their assigned areas of responsibility. • Consults with senior management with tact and insight and executes all other tasks, duties and responsibilities as assigned by the management team. SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS • Expertise in purchasing, inventory management, internal Mouser systems, global market trend analysis, and people & team development • Advanced knowledge in Excel (70%), and other Microsoft Office programs • Has acceptable driving record and can provide current, valid driver’s license and current proof of insurance EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree in a Business discipline preferred. • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage a Product or Supplier focused team. • Internal Candidates must have 3 years of Mouser experience as a Corporate Supplier Manager with a proven record of success and a performance rating of Highly Effective or greater for the last two years. • External Candidates must have 5 years of direct management experience AND 10 years of electronics distribution experience - including sales, marketing, product management, distribution, or asset management.
