Supplier Quality Engineer
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for supplier Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).  The position will be responsible for planning and assuring quality of purchased parts by applying quality methods and tools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Leads PDT to determine which components require the APQP process. Carry out supplier process audit, including Run at rate (critical parts only). Informs PDT of potential supplier quality risks. Supports Project Buyer with supplier inquiries, selection, and evaluations. Conducts component reviews with suppliers (new suppliers/ new components/ critical parts). Supports Quality Engineer: Monitors supplier ramp-up (production parts). Coordinate corrective actions to supplier. Supplier PPAP. Supplier VDA 6.3 audits - A MUST HAVE FOR THIS POSITION. Component reviews Lead APQP reviews according to planning defined with supplier. APQP status (for APQP level A & B) Process audit, run @ rate and review of PPAP report with suppliers (for APQP level A & B) Supplier Development according to escalation process Champion of Supplier Power Teams and Supplier Value Analysis / Value Engineering activities to assist in cost reduction activities. Development of supplier goal agreements to ensure that improvements are established and maintained by supply base, track performance to goal agreements. Visit suppliers to verify corrective actions as required.  Identify potential cost reduction activities/ideas at supply base.  Work with buyers to achieve successful implementation of cost reduction ideas. Input into supplier selection and resource decisions based on knowledge of supply base, visitations to supply base, audits performed at supply base. Support purchasing initiatives, goals, and objectives such as global rating systems, procedures, VA/VE implementation, strategic planning, and sourcing.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree in Business or Engineering is required. A minimum of 5 years of related experience in a Tier 1 environment. Ability to identify problems and develop practical solutions. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. Strong understanding of the implementation requirements of TS-16949, AIAG procedures such as PPAP, FMEA, etc. Knowledge of logistics processes and a strong understanding of component and product engineering.  Experience in performance system audits, TS-16949 audits is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be fluent in English; Spanish, Japanese, and/or German a plus.  Strong communication skills at all organizational levels, both verbal and written (including persuasive and assertiveness skills). 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard and non-standard situations.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and explain policies and procedures.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to ascertain how to react and successfully handle difficult situations. Intermediate to advanced knowledge required in computer programs such as Microsoft Office.  Must be able to prioritize activities.  Must be able to work under limited supervision, taking initiative when necessary.  Must be well organized and detail oriented.  International experience is preferred.
