Supplier Quality Engineer

Mott is poised for significant expansion over the next 5 years. Key Responsibilities: 1. Supplier Quality, Delivery, Service: Understand and execute key aspects of overseeing and assuring Supplier Quality to achieve best -in -class Supplier Quality, Delivery, and Service. Take the lead role in Procurement on supplier quality resolution and MRR evaluation and root cause analysis. Manage supplier deviation requests. 2. Supplier Relationships: Create and maintain key relationships with Suppliers’ Quality and Operations Management teams, as well as PW Engineering, Procurement, and support organizations. 3. Continuous Improvement: Collect/Compile data and drive Continuous improvement initiatives at the Supplier in reaction to escapes, and in support of reduced cost and lead-time; Develop and impart Continuous improvement activities. 4. Supplier Qualification Audits: Perform audits at new and existing suppliers, including report outs and follow up on issue resolution. Manage 3rd party auditors to perform audits 5. Supplier Scorecard: Ownership of the Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) management for underperforming suppliers and reduced incoming inspection for high performing suppliers (dock to stock recommendations/approvals) 6. Incoming Inspection: Work with Mott’s Quality team to establish incoming inspection Control Plans. 7. New Supplier Qualification: Review and approve Supplier first articles and cert package submissions 8. Internal Quality: Early involvement in new product development/qualification of new suppliers, ensuring the suppliers that Mott brings on board are able to reliably produce components and provide outside services that meet Mott’s high standards. Major Challenges: 1. Ensuring purchased components and outside services provided by Suppliers adhere to Mott and industry quality standards. 2. Driving results - Requiring working tighter with a cross-functional team with conflicting priorities. 3. Inadequate information on blueprints/documentation to suppliers. 4. Pressure from the business to move new products from Development to Production quickly, sometimes without the proper development of the supplier, setting Mott up for long term, on-going Supplier quality challenges. 5. Balancing multiple priorities at one time in a very fast growing company. Expected Performance Outcomes: 1. Supplier Quality - Decreasing MRR’s from a total of 463 in 2021 to 210 MRR’s in 2022 (55% decrease.) 2. Scrap Cost – Decrease scrap cost from $93K in 2021 to $47 K in 2022 (50% decrease) 3. New Supplier Scorecard - For new suppliers that are added to the Approved Supplier List (ASL), 80% of the new suppliers should achieve a 90% scorecard rating or higher on the New Supplier Scorecard. Required Experience: 1. Continuous improvement/lean experience desired 2. Practical CORE/Six Sigma experience or other Lean Systems experience a plus. 3. Understanding of a variety of industry Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 required) 4. Working knowledge/ proficiency in Quality tools such as FAI, PFMEA, DFMEA, GR&R, GD&T elements, etc. 5. Experienced in driving Corrective Actions and eliminating non-conformances at the Supplier level. 6. Practical experience of 7-10 years as a Manufacturing/Quality Engineer, Supplier Quality experience highly desired, preferably in industrial product, semiconductor and/or aerospace manufacturing environments. Technical Knowledge/Skills: 1. Experience working with SEMI standards 2. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite 3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with associates at all levels of the organization 4. Keen ability to build interpersonal relationships with Suppliers while still holding them to Mott’s high quality standards 5. Mindset of co-development with Suppliers 6. Extremely organized and able to work more than one issue at a time 7. Self-starter, ability to drive effort with minimal direction 8. Ability to meet commitments, balance and resolve conflicting priorities 9. High energy, dynamic individual who strives for continuous improvement. 10.
