Job Description
The Supplier Quality Engineer will be assigned to the Delta spaceship program. This role requires experience in Supplier Management, Root Cause and Corrective Action, Continual Improvement, Data Analysis, and team facilitation. The Supplier Quality Engineer must have excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, along with a strong focus on quality. The role involves working within cross-functional teams to meet and improve upon established quality and delivery goals.
ResponsibilitiesConduct inspections of various components including composites, systems, metals, assemblies, and tooling.Oversee and witness critical processes to ensure compliance with quality standards.Facilitate the resolution of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) between the supplier and the company.Partner with the supplier to ensure that all assemblies and documentation are in order to support timely and complete delivery on schedule.Drive supplier performance to meet or exceed quality goals established by the business, including targets created for each supplier.Provide supplier education and coaching on quality systems, regulatory compliance issues, and company initiatives.Analyze non-conformance trends to evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions or other supplier quality improvement tools.Assist in the development of supplier scorecard criteria.Travel to suppliers as required.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in engineering, or 5 years related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and Supplier Quality Engineering experience.ASQ certifications.Working knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 quality management systems, AS9145 Requirements for APQP & PPAP, and FAI Standard AS9102.Ability to understand drawings/specifications and interpret requirements.Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.Ability to manage multiple projects.Knowledge of computers and software: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.Ability to prioritize competing issues and coordinate resolutions with associated departments.Strong organizational and time management skills.Self-motivated and able to work independently while maintaining a team perspective.Comfort in virtual meetings/collaboration spaces as well as a factory floor.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with CMM, inspection, data analysis, CAD/CATIA, supplier interface, independent action, and ERP systems.Experience in inspection, metrology, NDT/NDI, FAI, and GD&T.Leadership experience preferred.Strong analytical skills with a focus on critical thinking and business process management.Ability to apply risk-based reasoning and judgment within a multifaceted regulatory environment of experimental, standard, and space regulations.Engineering degree required; materials science/engineering preferred.ASQ or QMS certification or commensurate experience.Work Environment
This role requires travel to customer sites.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $80.00/hr.
