Job Description
If you are an Engineering / Quality professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Sidney, Ohio location as a Supplier Quality Engineer / Senior Supplier Quality Engineer you will be responsible for improving quality performance of our Tier 1 suppliers. This position is combination of developing existing suppliers, assisting with New Product Development projects, conducting continuous improvement projects (Kaizen/Lean) at suppliers along with assisting in supplier auditing.
As A Supplier Quality Engineer, You Will:
Evaluate suppliers by leading/conducting quality system audits using the Copeland Supplier Audit (CSA).
Assist with source selection and development. Audit and evaluate technical capabilities of existing and potential suppliers.
Facilitate capacity planning with suppliers to ensure demand can be meet to the requested date. Facilitate the development of process documentation with assigned suppliers.
Develop and support suppliers through visits, CSA quality audits, process audits, lean projects, providing manufacturing process technical guidance, and other means as appropriate. Follow up with suppliers to assure corrective actions are implemented.
Lead supplier development projects (as prioritized and assigned), assess equipment and processes for proper application, capacity, operation, and PM.
Provide manufacturing, processing and gauging recommendations to suppliers, procurement and SQE.
Provide Lean and/or Six Sigma training or consulting to suppliers.
Develop and achieve annual objectives supporting overall department and company objectives.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering or other related majors; or equivalent five years Engineering and/or Manufacturing experience in a field or commodities related to specific needs.
At least 2 years of experience with wide range of materials and commodity knowledge relating to machining, forging, casting, etc.. related to specific needs. (Including Co-op/internship experiences)
Proficient ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications including GD&T.
Knowledge of Quality Systems; ISO 9001 and/or IATF16949 and process audit
Ability to travel 25% at a time

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
MBA- Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Degree
Certifications in ASQ (CQA, CQE, CSQP) and Certified 6 Sigma Green Belt or Equivalent
Prior experience with the manufacturing of commodities used by Copeland. Background in gauging concepts and techniques.
Understanding/knowledge of Lean principles (Kaizen, Std work, Kanban, VSM, Continuous Flow, 5S+1, Poke-yoke, waste elimination)
For Development role: TPM (total productive maintenance), takt-time, OEE (overall equipment effectiveness)
3D Drawing Model, interpret PMI data
Database mining and data analytics
Flexible Work Schedule – Hybrid Work Option and Core Hours
This role has the flexibility of a hybrid work from home option up to three days a week and a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Our newly renovated Sidney campus has 1M square feet of manufacturing floor with an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. This location is the headquarters for our HVACR Americas business unit. Through our many years of compressor expertise, our products help bring comfort and convenience to refrigeration, commercial, industrial, and residential spaces.
