The Supplier Quality Leader at Thales will ensure the implementation of processes, practices and specific tools, to make sure quality on Supplier side is in line with the Group defined processes (CHORUS) as well as the technical requirements and international regulations (ISO, AQAP, etc.).
He/She provides proactive support on quality topics to industrial suppliers as well as to the procurement organization on Quality evaluation of them from early stage (i.e. selection phase) to late stage (i.e. Quality performance evaluation) and upon request from Procurement and/or other relevant functions (e.g. Industrial organization)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The mission of the SuQL consists of 4 activities of which load is indicated - in brackets:
• Supplier Quality Improvement (40%)
• Supplier Quality performance support (20%)
• Quality criteria for Supplier selection (5%)
• Quality referent of the ACQ process (5%)
The first two activities relate to a proactive approach in order to anticipate problematic issues, the last two are reactive approach in problems solving.
List of related main activities as Supplier QL:
- Manage compliance to Quality Assurance requirements and their flow down to the Suppliers
- Define and apply the Quality Management System and relevant Quality Plan specific for the Suppliers (HW and SW)
- Assure the quality of purchased solutions in collaboration with impacted functions by participation to FAT, or inspection
- Assess and qualify suppliers and their performances in collaboration with Procurement and SiPM
- Identify structural risks for supplier involved in the development project in collaboration with all other QAMs, and collaborate with SiPM in the improvement of performances with them
- Assure that Anomalies, Non-conformities and Alerts are followed and closed through the managed NonConformities process
- Support the Certifications (AS-9100- ISO 9001 and AQAP 2110 for process adherence)
- Exercise Alert Duty and Veto Right in case of non-resolution of problems and escalate it to the correspondent management organization, Manage and capitalise on alerts and vetoes.
- Complies with auditing plan and conduct audits to the projects then follow up the Non-Conformity raised in the Audit since closure out.
As Transversal QAM this figure is responsible to conduct internal assessments in order to secure and improve departments operations.
These assessments can address one or several disciplines (Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Industry & supply chain, Services…).
List of main activities as Transversal QAM:
- Prepare the mission: define the objectives and scope of the assessment, identify participants, organize onsite meetings, collect and analyze documents, prepare interviews
- Collect facts in the field: interview staff, collect additional data
- Analyze data (facts, figures) and formulate recommendations - Organize a contradictory debriefing with auditee
- Report: write the report (including recommendations), present findings and recommendations to scope manager
- Monitor implementation of recommendations and actual closure of identified gaps addressed.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 7 years of Supplier Quality Assurance activities or senior experience in similar positions.
- Education/Qualifications University degree (Engineering or technical disciplines) or equivalent (Electronic is preferential).
- Experience in Quality departments (preferable within Electronics/ Aerospace context)
- Process Analysis and Improvement
- Knowledge of Quality Plan/ Quality Inspection & Test Plan
- Quality Standards ISO 9001 / AS9100 and AQAP 2110 knowledge
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- IT tools (MS Office)
- Key attitudes: Result/Customer Orientation, Self-motivation, Critical Thinking, Flexibility and high capacity to work within multicultural teams
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to speak fluently in English
- Knowledge and real application of Lean Management is considered a plus
