Supplier Quality Manager

Job Overview

The Supplier Quality Manager – Fabrication will work closely with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes, develop supplier capabilities, and uphold the highest quality standards. Their contributions will directly impact the reliability, performance, and safety of our industry-leading mining shovels. This is an onsite position located in Milwaukee, WI.

Key Job Responsibilities

Own and manage the supplier quality management process, including assessment, monitoring, and auditing of supplier performance.

Ensure timely investigation and resolution of Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).

Develop and enforce quality standards and specifications to ensure supplier compliance.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier performance and implement quality improvement plans for underperforming suppliers.

Identify and manage critical sub-tier suppliers based on risk assessments.

Facilitate communication with suppliers to resolve quality issues, address concerns, and ensure timely problem resolution.

Assist in the qualification of parts and fabrications to ensure they meet specifications.

Facilitate Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) with suppliers for new projects.

Develop and mentor the supplier quality team, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.

Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and procurement.

Prepare and deliver presentations to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.

Conduct critical product inspections at supplier sites and authorize shipments.

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

7–10 years of experience in a Supplier Quality Manager or Fabrication role, with a proven record of improving supplier performance and implementing quality systems.

Strong knowledge of ISO 9000:2015 quality management systems.

Hands-on experience in manufacturing environments utilizing APQP (Inspection, Capability Studies, Control Plans, and PFMEA).

Certifications such as CWI, MT, or PT are highly desirable.

Experience with fabrication weldments, heat treatment, machining, and mechanical assembly.

Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with expertise in PDCA methodology.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP business systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma certification.

Familiarity with Lean principles and continuous improvement processes.

Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

Experience working with diverse suppliers and managing complex quality challenges.

Travel Requirements

Up to 75% travel required (domestic and international), with some trips lasting one or more weeks.
