JOB SUMMARY: Performs inspections, tests and audits of incoming raw materials and packaging to ensure compliance with GSF company requirements and manufacturing standards. Troubleshoots, investigates and reacts to non-conforming raw materials and packaging.
ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs inspections, testing, monitoring and auditing of incoming raw materials and packaging to quality standards.
Troubleshoots, investigates and reacts to non-conforming raw materials and packaging, including product dispositions, corrective actions, and credit requests.
Maintains electronic database housing quality records such as internal specifications and vendor documents including COA’s.Routinely interacts with plant personnel, supplier representatives and outside vendors on any raw material and packaging issues.Monitors aging raw material and packaging inventory and reacts accordingly: including requests for shelf life extensions from vendors and communication with materials management.Manages raw material and packaging holds as needed, to ensure non-compliant items are properly segregated. Initiates raw materials or packaging destructions as required.Maintains records of tests, audits, and other quality procedures to ensure availability of accurate and thorough information.Follows laboratory safety policies, company policies, procedures, and standards for safety, GMP’s and HACCP.Provides technical assistance and support to Purchasing and Product Development, during vendor and/or raw material or packaging approvals.Participates in the sensory evaluation of raw materials and finished products as required.Performs other related duties or projects as assigned.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience equivalent to:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in food science, chemistry, microbiology, or related field of science from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
0 to 3 years of relevant work experience, with an understanding of food safety and regulations.
