Supply Chain Controls Engineer Intern - June 2025

Whether you are looking for a summer internship, co-op, or an entry-level role, we’ll help you develop the technical and soft skills you need to thrive in the future. **Note: This intern position requires you to be onsite and based at the Staples Fulfillment Center in Tampa, FL.** **Target Start Date** : June 2, 2025 - August 15, 2025 (11-week program) **Position Overview:** The Staples Controls and Automation Group (CAG) is looking for a qualified intern to join our engineering team. Our team is currently overhauling the control systems in all our fulfillment centers. This intern will be involved in all aspects of design and commissioning with the goal of becoming a permanent member of the engineering team. **What you bring to the table:** • Collaborative – able to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives • Customer Focused – able to identify and understand internal or external customer needs and interests and deliver customer-centric solutions • Inclusive – dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment consisting of diverse individuals from varying backgrounds and cultures • Innovative – develop new insights; question conventional approaches; encourage new ideas; design and implement new solutions • Self-Developer – actively seeks new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels **What you’ll be doing:** • Assist in the development of programs for Allen Bradley programmable logic controllers (PLC) using ladder logic and structured text • Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate conveyer control solutions, automated material handling equipment, and autonomous vehicles • Create and maintain electrical schematic drawings • Develop and debug controls system software • Perform necessary electrical field wiring **Learning Objectives:** Throughout the duration of the internship experience, you will learn how to: • Identify and define the hardware needed for a control system update • Setup of Ethernet communication network between PLC and field devices • Understand product lifetime cycle • Project planning **What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:** • Must be a rising senior, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Familiar with ladder logic Staples is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
