The Opportunity

This position works out of our Pleasanton, CA office in the Heart Failure Division. In Abbott’s Heart Failure (HF) business, we’re developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

The Project Manager serves as the liaison between project owners, project team and management to guarantee an open and accurate communication of project and program achievements and issues to be escalated for resolutions. Identifies areas for process improvements and defines/implements solutions serving as the key contact to disseminate the new process requirements to the organization.

The process is intended to ensure the Senior Management has the appropriate data and synthesis thereof for optimal decision-making in support of the Product Portfolio and Division strategy. The successful candidate may also serve as Project Owner for one or more projects in the product portfolio, executing the project in accordance with the above process expectations. Accountable for driving scope, budget, and quality tradeoffs, not only for a given project, but across projects in conjunction with other stakeholders to optimize portfolio value creation.

What You’ll Work On

Implement, monitor and improve business processes in support of Project Management, Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and sub-processes thereofDemonstrate stewardship and provide project leadership to meet Division strategy and business objectivesManage activities associated with product-related projects by coordinating the activities from key functional areas such as R&D, Operations, Regulatory, Quality and CommercialProjects being managed may include market and line extensions, reformulations, new products, new manufacturing process and new packagesAct as a point of contact for IBP process reporting and updatesFacilitate project managers through the project management and IBP process; ensure cross-functional team is working within process definition for reporting to Sr. Management. Resolve project team conflicts and project data integrityImplement process improvements solutions to support the division to achieve its long-term goals.Provide business updates as needed regarding project status, resource needs, risks and decisions to be escalate to Sr. Management in a timely mannerDocument project management process and use of project management tools and reportsCreate a work environment that supports cross-functional team effectiveness

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain, or related discipline 5+ years of managing projects in the medical device industryAbility to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced Degree PMP Certification Experience with systems like ERP (SAP), PLM (Windchill) a plus Experience in operations (i.e. Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or Supply Chain)

The base pay for this position is $86,700.00 – $173,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
